Hey,I just started my first hack, I plan to change most of SMW but so far I have changed some Mario sprites and replaced Yoshi's Island 1 with Baddies' Hillside.

The sprites might as well not be final so there could be some changes, I'll also be changing the level graphics as soon as I learn how to use ExGFX graphics (The only thing I need to know is how to make a blanc TLP file or if there is a better program for making exGFX).

Yoshi's so cute

I can't see the overworld sprite very well on the white paths though.

The sliding yoshi GFX is a bit messed, but I'm sure you'll fix that.

As well, the easiest way to make a ExGFX file is to copy an existing GFX file and go from there.

He is standing there, not sliding I didn't finish the slide sprite yet. About the ExGFX, I knew that method but since the seperate GFX files are so small I was wondering if I could make blanc ones so I didn't come short of space.

That Yoshi itīs cool !. But I donīt like the OW Yoshi, use the old OW Yoshi, itīs not very good, but I like it more.

Just add outlines to the OW Yoshi.
Also, change the "Mario" Text in the HUD.

I already thought about that, I'm planning on making Yoshi into Poochy (If you don't know him, he is a dog that you could ride on in SMW2).

I heard that someone had already "tried" to make an ASM of playable Yoshi when Mario is not riding on Yoshi. But it failed, so I suggest try harder with your sprites.

I don't want to make an ASM hack to make Yoshi playable, I'm making a level and graphics hack.

Quite cute. You do plan to change the overworld though, right? As for ExGFX, the best one is YY-CHR, but some virus programs don't like it for some reason beyond me. To make a blank ExGFX file, extract the GFX from the ROM when "joined GFX" is NOT checked. Take any one of those files that shows up, create a folder called "ExGraphics", and put said file in. Rename it ExGFX##.bin or ExGFX###.bin. Replace the #s with numbers, but they must be larger than 80. Now, open it in your tile editor and delete the content inside. Then, simply edit away.

About that Yoshi-Riding-Yoshi thing, there's only 2 choices:

1: Never make any Levels with Yoshi
2: Change it to some other ridable thing. (Poochy, Kuribo's Shoe)

Thanks dor the YY-CHR tip, I'll google it, and about the GFX to ExGFX, I already knew that but I wondered if there was a simpeler way because it seems kind of annoying do delete all the content.

Nope. That's the only way you're going to get a blank ExGFX file. And don't worry, deleting all the content is as simple as right clicking and holding in YY-CHR on the top left corner, dragging to the bottom right of the tiles while still holding the right mouse button, releasing, and pressing the "delete" key on your keyboard. Once you try it yourself, you'll understand.

Ok I already made some things with TLP for ExGFX. But where can I download YY-CHR?
