Actually, MISSINGNO. was made in order to stop glitches like that. If you tried to encounter him in the original Japanese Red or Green versions, the game would lock up. So in the Japanese Blue, they created MISSINGNO. However, as we all know, MISSINGNO. wasn't meant to be encountered and is still pretty glitchy itself. But at least it doesn't freeze.


i find that stupid thing to do...people are not supposed to encounter missingno in the first place and the makers decided to permit people to do so?

i'm kind of curious of what exactly causes the missingno error--like what is in the code that makes it go

You don't understand. Even if they patched the way to find MISSINGNO., if they hadn't made him, the game would still freeze up solid if you were to encounter one. They created him to prevent freezing glitches, and what they introduced was greater pandemonium. Silly, I know. There's a guide on GameFAQs that lists the inner workings of the glitch, though. Check it out if you have the time.

Is it possible to encounter missingno without using a gameshark? and for freezing up solid, you are saying powering off the gameboy would do nothing? I guess that document will tell me eh?

Now now this thread has nothing to do with my sex change! Sion requests that Wurl is severly punished for not following the rules.

Now back to what this topic is really about. Most people know that Pikachu evolves into Raichu, but what most do not know is that before the lovable yellow rat is a Pikachu it is actually a Pichu. For those of you a little lost, heres a schematic.
