Never caused any problems for me, McAfee Virus Scan never reported anything, and this is old news.

That person was me and one other guy I believe. I bit of advice...If you like yy-chr, DO NOT delete it because of AVG. I had the exact same problem and when I deleted the program, I could never get it to work again, not even if I downloaded it multipal times

Yeah, I was "that guy" who bought up the problem.

Don't worry about it, YY-CHR is not malicious, and the virus alert is a false alarm. Just disable auto-protection and the program will run fine.

It has code in it that is rarely seen outside of viruses. As such, when certain antivirus programs detect this while scanning, it detects it as being a new virus. Fairly simple, really...

I've always been curious what code exactly triggers the alert. I mean, I can't think of any other tile editting programs that set it off (though I'll admit that may just be ignorance on my part) and it's not like YY-Chr has anything really "unique" going for it.

F-PROT Antivirus thinks part of the Java installation package (straight from Sun's website) is a "destructive program".

I can only imagine the chaos that will ensue if LM is ever tagged as a virus...

So...there is a way to desactivate the alert for yy-chr in AVG?

Forehead-slappingly, AVG does not have an exceptions list. The only way to run YY-CHR with AVG installed is to disable the resident shield.

I don't recommend leaving it off, though.

Oh well ...AVG needs an update for a exception list.

Or you could just buckle down and actually pay for a virus scanner.

Alternatively, I'm certain there's a free scanner out there with an exception list.
