Could the owner of this board(I am not for sure if it is acmlm or Xkeeper.) please be nice and let everyone that wants a custom title have one? I figured it wouldn't be that hard. That is why I suggested this.

Umm, y'know, if he did that, the word "recommendations" would be useless...

Be a good member and a good poster and earn it. It isn't hard. If they like you, you won't have to wait so long.

- How can I get a custom rank?

You can get one under one of those conditions:
- Be a moderator or administrator
- Have at least 2000 posts
- Have at least 1000 posts, and have been registered for at least 200 days
There may be a few rare exceptions, but asking for a custom title before having the requirements for it won't get you one.

From the now so "Outdated FAQ(TM)"

A fourth reason would be if you are a veteran from the previous Acmlmboards that used to have a title. Otherwise you have to earn it.

Heh, yeah, those numbers were set when the board was much more active. We could probably halve them to get about the same proportion. (The posts, not the days.)

Ehh. Still, the 200 day clause works for the 'halving'. Eventually, a large amount of people are going to have them...though, I guess it wouldn't really hurt if it was changed either to 1000 a day and 500 after 200.

The only other way is if you used to be on the board and you had an old title; you could just ask any admin and they'd give you one so long as you didn't delete it and leave it blank. (that kills it before the requirement)

Really now?

All this time, I was actually trying to get it the old fashion way.

XD!

Yeah, you better wait until you reach 2000 posts or 1000 posts in 200 days.

I had 12,000+ posts at the old board so I already had a title.

Wow traps. That was... Stupid.

Aaaaanyway... I don't think the values should be changed. Honestly, 2000 or 1000 + 200 is fine, and not terribly difficult to reach if you're simply active. Maybe if you had to earn it back, lowering it would make sense, but everyone who had one has one, so...

I have to disagree with the popular sentiment that it's "reasonable" to reach the custom title requirements with only casual posting. As it is, I only respond to a thread that I feel like I can contribute something of value to; I tend to avoid those silly "Hey, this is what I do/like/feel, what do you do/like/feel?" because they tend towards nothing more than long lists of individual posters wandering in, jotting down their three sentences, and strolling out without adding much of interest. Give me a good discussion any day - otherwise, I'd rather sit out. But I still think of myself as a relatively intelligent and respected(?) member.

In any case, I had a title way back when, why can't I get one now? I'll never reach 2000 posts, maybe not even a thousand, so I'm kinda bummed.

I don't think the custom title is the end-all, be-all of the board though. If that was true, everyone that hit the requirements would, eventually, drop out. The incentive isn't the custom title but...you know...posting because it's fun. I figured that much was obvious.

Course, I was also a person who spreed their way to 2000 back in the day in just a few months. Hell, I had Wooster's pre-title.

By the by, those of you who had one and are just tuning in, if you can provide proof that you had one via the old board archives, like Surlent did, one of the admins or I will get it back to you if it means that much.

was this ever announced that if you had a custom title at the old board, you could get one here?

oh well, i'll just work my way back to 2k, not that much of a big deal since I dont have much of a layout either..

So yeah, the requirements should remain the same but the appeal process for the slower users should be there...

Yes, they said that on several occasions.

Hence why I´ve had mine for a while.

Eh, I post way too slowly. It'll take me around 3-4 years to get that sort of postage here.

Unless the Sim-battle arena tournament continues.

Anyway, nice to know, I had been wondering how people earned them myself.
