I was also not around for the original NES release, but I never had an SNES, and my sister had an NES and SMB

Cripey, condolences over the SNES...I wonder what I'm gonna get for mentioning that all-told, I had three total. NES, SNES, and PS1. Never got an N-64 or PS2, or anything Sega, blah, and yadda.

As far as I'm concerned, the SNES is the best console ever made, period. The amount of good memories I have from games like Mario World, Super Metroid, Starwing (Starfox to Americans), Mario Kart, Battletoads, Donkey Kong, the list is endless. That console did no wrong.

It can never be the best console for one simple reason: Power Stone 2 is greater than the sum of all other games combined, and it was on the DreamCast alone.

There's just something about SMAS that makes me not care for any of the remakes except for SMB3. :/

So yes, I voted for the original NES version.

Well, the only DC game I ever got around to playing was Sonic Adventure, so I wouldn't know.

...

Wow are you ever missing out.

DC had tons of other good games, as well; Power Stone 2 is merely the greatest game ever made.

Hmm.

Maybe I should pick one up second hand or something. Only problem is they didn't sell very well here in Australia.

SMB on Super Mario All-Stars gets my vote. When I first started playing the AS version, my gawking at the graphics caused me to die more than once. I agree with that person on Vimm's Lair who said that the old NES Mario games look the way they were meant to on All-Stars. You still can't backtrack

BTW, I think the whole Minus World thing is overrated. I hear the Minus World goes on forever. There's no goal point.

I agree. That's another reason why I like the NES better too

NES, barely. The later "improved" physics made areas which require jumping too easy, and I didn't like certain audio aspects. I'm surprised how no Mario fan community mentions it. Every single coin touched and jump made in SMAS (plus SMA1 and SMA4 due to this) uses SMW sounds! At least their new graphics were creative, it's enough to keep my opinion near even.

SMW itself is fine. SMW sound in the rest of SMAS, horribly out of place for those games.

I like SMB on the NES and the SNES. But I prefer the SNES version -> better graphics and better sound.
