I know what you mean, Hyperhacker. Java often freezes my computer up completely. Other things do it too, but it seems to do it more often than what would be considered tolerable. That's why I tend to stay away from it.

Java pwns at times. Take artboards and others for example. Plus one can PROGRAM games on it!

Damn straight it is. If only someone converted that game into a executable file. I've seen it be done before.

By the way, because of this experience tonight, the "no more than 50 posts in a topic in one day" error message should be changed to "Posting more than 50 times in a topic in a 24-hour period is FORBIDDEN."

This happened the first time I installed it. Any Java program (even applets in web pages ) would freeze the computer entirely. After reinstalling Windows for a number of other reasons, and eventually convincing myself to install Java again, it worked fine.

Of course that was a horribly shitty system with a seemingly defective CPU/motherboard, so...

Of course, right now it's only using 150MB, a 200MB drop from last time I checked. Problem is it's doing a shitload of HD access (downloading 8GB on bittorrent does that) and lololol, for some reason, is also using 150MB, adding up to 300 of the 256MB I have, plus what all the other apps are using.

...Why the hell is FF using 150MB with only 4 tabs open anyway? Must have to do with having 47 extensions.

This system I am currently using is a near top-of-the line one, though. The technology is only one or two years old. I don't see any reason as to why it would be doing this. Can you recall the specs of the system where Java caused freezes for you?

EDIT: lololol is using 54MB of RAM for me, and I only have 5 extensions. Only four pertain to this particular website (and others in general), the other one is specifically for a certain website.

800mhz Celery CPU, 5200RPM hard drive, and either 64, 128 or 192MB RAM (I upgraded twice, forget how much it was at that point) with WinXP. And it was slow RAM too, I think 233mhz or less. Yay HP.
