I really think you need to work on just one hack at a time. All three of those look incredibly...generic, especially the last two. SMB3 graphics are about as overused as YI graphics now. Pacman Advanture (it's "Adventure," BTW) is easily the most interesting idea of the bunch, but as it stands right now, it's just another bland level hack with a yellow circle in place of Mario.

All your levels look wacky; I'm serious. You really need to take your time to work on one hack, then move onto the next (yeah, what BMF said). On Dangerous Missio, the giant floor isn't correctly built the way it's suppose to be. It's all glinchy; as for the water in that hack, it looks weird. I guess it's the color you gave it. You should lighten that up a bit.

The hacks could really be better. They're decent, so far.

This is a HUGE improvement over your old work... Keep at it. I'm kinda liking Dangerous "Missio" myself... I'm liking the transparent Mario.

1-ups are good, but too many are bad. Even if you keep 1-up Cave, you should at least make some sort of difficult challenge that makes your 1-ups hard to get to. Although a frustrating game isn't fun, neither is a game without challenge.

I like your level design in "Dangerous Missio". Thought the part with the volcano lotuses (or "loti") looks a bit extreme.

OW looks like peter_ac's.

Also, way too many 1-ups in that cave. I suggest NOT making a level full of 1-ups, since the player can just keep coming back and getting them - unless you want a hack that people are gonna be with their eyes close, you should remove this.

But like I said, you have a fairly good sense of level design. Just fix a few glitches, and it'll turn out pretty good

Pac-man:
  1. Boooooooring.
  2. Almost identical to the original. Show some creativity!
  3. Not bad, but some graphic problems: Headless plant at right, green coin halfway behind bridge at left, non-solid object (Mushroom) somehow containing water.
  4. Alright, but why the POWs?
  5. If that's a flying killer door, you win the Internet. Spikes need some recolouring.
  6. Nice graphics. Seems weird for the ghosts to be square though.
  7. Making a level entirely from cement blocks = bad. You can get the same effect and look 1000x better by using skinny pipes, placing cement blocks (best used with ExGFX) at their intersections. Also, spell-check!
  8. Again, why the POWs?
  9. Ooooooh.
  10. The coin looks fairly neat. Unless this is a secret area at the top of the level, your camera positioning sucks.


SMW5: (A name which has been used hundreds of times )
  1. Nothing special. The SMB3 graphics make me hawt, but they're hardly an accomplishment.
  2. At least TRY changing the overworld. And if you just haven't got around to it yet, don't take a screenshot of it.
  3. Making 1ups really easy to get is a major design flaw.
  4. Where have I seen this pic before?
  5. Neat, but how exactly do you go up? Or are those smashable blocks even though they're coloured like throw blocks?
  6. More casual 1ups. You have 32 lives. THAT's TOO MANY.


Dangerous Mission
  1. Nice border, but you need to do some spell-checking. Why the transparency? Also, the colours could use some work.
  2. Eh....
  3. I like the minor scorebar tweaks. The camera needs to come upward, though.
  4. No action here at all.
  5. ...You do realize levels are supposed to be beatable. Not to mention, there's a limit to how many sprites the SNES can process. 4 big wide plants each shooting 2 fireballs at a time may get to be a problem depending how much is on the screen.
  6. Not bad. Looks like you'd be SOL if you fell in that gap next to the plants though.


Like others have said, your hacks look alright, but you should focus on one at a time. You seem to have enough good ideas to make one really nice hack, but instead of putting them all in one really nice hack, you've strewn them over 3 mediocre ones. And for the love of God, spell check!

Also, I'm on 1600x1200 and the pics don't look small to me.
