I know theres NetBSD, OpenBSD, FreeBSD, etc
I was wondering, whats the best BSD distro ? I want to use it for all my work/office and other works that need security, since Ive heard that BSD distros were ultra secure. thanks ! |

So why did you put the name "Linux" in the title if you wanted a BSD?
Anywho, if what you're looking for is security, use OpenBSD no questions asked... it's aim is the be the most secure operating system from the default install, and it truely is. |

Just as an FYI, security is only as strong as the user's wits. You can be using OpenBSD and have a very secure system, but things like this can happen:
-User only runs as root (VERY BAD, can kill the system and open security holes) -Weak password (having "password" as your password generally is not safe at all) -Not keeping up with updates and patches Remember that BSD is a UNIX, so flaws that are natural to UNIX systems also apply to BSDs, Linux, etc. IMHO I'd just use a good Linux distro and have a very strong hardware firewall. Gives those old 486s a use. ;) |
