I've been working on my hack since last September and am almost finished save adding two abilities to two sprites; I've searched the asm for Mega Mole over and over and can't spot the flag that makes it rideable. I need to make a 16x16 sprite (preferably goomba) and a 16x32 sprite (such as Rex) rideable, much like the Mega Mole. And in addition, I am trying (not explicitly required, but would add realism) to make Rex shoot Bullet Bills from the upper half of the sprite (the face).

Needless to say I've replaced the goomba and rex sprites and they are no longer "goomba" and "rex" but I can't release moer information without spoiling the surprise of just what my hack does.

I've tried every bit of code surrounding Mega Mole and the closest I got was invisible sprites and a lightning storm with milions of hammer bro hammers flying across the top of the screen (just the GFX they don't interact with mario)

If anyone can help I would be very greatful not to mention I'd finally be able to release a demo.

: : edit : :
does anyone know how to change the physical displacement of where a sprite is carried by mario? Instead of halfway up his body at Big mario and straight out to the right as small mario, I'd like to have him carry an object above his head. Anyone know the address?

The mini moles (forgot the name) are rideable aren't they? You could just copy their code for a 16x16 rideable sprite.

I wish I could help you more.

I think I know where your going with the 16x32 sprite. SMB2...?

Also, good luck and I hope you find the help you need. This sounds exciting. I like sprite editing.

Oh okay, sorry for the wrong info. I guess my post wasn't a help after all. Well, still good luck.

no prob thanx for trying. No the minimoles aren't rideable, and good guess; I am ressurecting a few elements from SMB2. One of my greater features is the grass (being able to dig up objects); It doesn't look real smooth yet but a little more work on my mario sprite and it will. But I tried copying several parts of the code from mega mole and all I get is glitches. I tried to change the crop field on the mega mole itself with the reconfigurator and that too leads to glitches or even a crash. So that didnt work. Its from my experience beyond the capability of the reconfigurator but its got to be in the rom somewhere. I'll make a deal though to give people some incentive; the first person to help me get these sprites rideable will get an unprotected copy of the rom so you can see how certain asm feats work such as the grass and waterfall logs.
