Yo! Okay, let me go into detail about this:

I'm pretty sure I have a Creative SoubBlaster Live! Value soundcard, but I don't have the box. Recently, my Creative Surround Mixer (volume control) stopped working. As a result of this, I had to uninstall everything, then download everything again, as I don't have the installation CD.

The pack I downloaded however, wasn't what I was after. I've lost the ability to select 5.1 sound, which improves sound quality a great deal.
I have the option to download an ISO of the original CD, but I've always wanted to know what the Audigy soundcards are like, so I was thinking that now would be the best time to find out more, and ulimately, buy one.

I'm on an impossibly slow internet connection for most of the month, untill I get 400MB at 512k speed. I won't be wasting my download limit on half a CD. I can download the ISO from my girlfriend's house, which has a constant 256k internet connection.

I mostly only listen to MP3s, and watch DVDs on my computer, so I'm not really looking into the game section here.

I have Logitech's Z-5500 5.1 speakers, which I must say are pretty schweet.
They pump out a whopping 500 watts (RMS), so I want to get the most out of my speakers. They are digital-ready, too. My current soundcard isn't, so I'm just with plain-old analog.

So, after all of that, would it be worth it to get an Audigy2 (something here) soundcard? Is digital sound noticable on MP3s?
Should I just download that freakin' ISO?
Money isn't too much of a problem, I'm just asking if you think I'll be wasting my money, and which soundcard in particular I should be looking for.

Thanks!

I have the Audigy2 Platinum and I can say without reservations that it's the best soundcard EVER.

On the point of MP3's though, no. MP3's will sound exactally the same. DVD's on the otherhand will sound IMMENSELY better with an Audigy card and good speakers.

Argh! I decided to think again after I found out the Australian pricetag on an Audigy2 Platinum soundcard. I'm just not willing to spend $325US on a soundcard. It's almost as much as I paid for my speakers!

So I got my girlfriend to download the ISO, and after installing it, everything seems back to normal.
I'm having alot of difficulty altering the crossover frequency for the subwoofer so that the bass sounds clean, constant and crisp like it used to. I used to be able to set the subwoofer volume on both the Creative Surround Mixer and the speakers themselevs up to maximum, and get excellent quality bass, but now, I have to settle for the volume on the subwoofer to be at half. Anymore volume, and it's too much.

It's probably a mixture of the crossover frequency and the equilizer in MusicMatch, but I dunno.
I've tried everything, but still can't get it to sound just right.
*Keeps trying*

Thanks anyway, ||bass
