I would suggest you fool with the pallete a little bit, the pallete is the only thing that is screaming zelda 3 at me .

But yeah it does look pretty frankenstein'd.

True I intend to especially for the cliffs but when editing and inserting new gfx it is usually best (or I find it to be) to change the palettes once all the gfx has been dealt with.

Most of the gfx changes Ive made in the game allow for a new level of design and free up a lot of tile and palette space. So I am happy the changes to the overworld have turned out as well as they have.

Very nice NEONswift!

Do you have by any chance finished the whole perspective of the new cliffs?

I mean the top part of them which you usually don't see the other side..

Also, I noticed how well the trees can work with the brown patterns using your two layers on overworlds

Personally I love the waterfall, but the rest of the water could use some work.

Hm, why is my text appearing in the large font generally used for Japanese text input?

What's this?

And this? (Excuse the roughness; that's the first draft)

Well, in line with policy, it'll be a total surprise. The CE team is taking a break to get an honest to god Chrono Trigger ROM hack out of the door so that even if CE takes eons to complete, fans will at least have some kind of new adventure to experience. And here's the good part: I want it done by the time February hits. I have more free time than I know what to do with and I'm hellbent on getting this done, so perhaps in a month we'll have the first scripted CT hack.

I don't think you'll have much luck creating a good hack of a game that huge in under a month.

Eh, a couple more enemies borrowed from other games:

Walk near the thing, it comes alive. I was bored so I made it shoot fireballs.

Also working on Slogra boss:

Don't worry, that's not the final version. This is just some storyboard tiny toon version of him that Dr. Mario will improve upon someday. Ideally, he should be a bit larger, and be wielding the weapon he has ( I didn't want to bother to draw it). Here, he walks and jumps around and shooting bones and fireballs, about as close as I could get him to be in the SNES game. You'll just have to use your imagination I guess unless I find a way to make the pictures move. Anyone like to share a convenient way?

Actually, I think he has been working on that hack - Crimson Echoes - for over a year now. I remember playing the demo, and I was fairly impressed. It seemed really well done, so I'm hoping it will live up to my expectations

It's a one chapter hack, designed for 30-45 minutes of play.

Yeah i threw the sample tree together quite quickly...its great that link is able to walk underneath it and all but the asm hack is far from finished... Hopefully once ive figured it all out I should also be able to create a patch that allows u to pick and choose the gfx used in areas (death mountain animated tiles/dark world gfx etc).

I created the whole cliff design...not sure if its finished, depends on everyones reaction to it but for a placeholder itll do fine. Ive already cleared a bucket load of 8x8 tiles to use elsewhere now that diagonal cliffs are gone.

I think I'll show a few screenshots of the F-Zero Climax GBA Translation Project me and two other people are working on.

The team consists of:

RadioShadow (Me) - The graphics editor
Guy_Perfect - Changes the text in game
Heian - The guy translating the Japanese text

Now for the screenshots:

Took me a little while to change this. Surprisingly, it was a graphic and I liked how this turned out.

The Pilots names are now in English. I need to edit the font slightly know.

Some of Ryu Suzaku graphic names have been changed to Rick Wheeler. That is what he was known as in F-Zero GP Legend.

Control Settings have been changed into English.

10 out of 51 of the anime description's (known as Story Lines in the game) have been translated so far. The titles (which are graphics) were edited by me while the other text font was already located in the rom. Perfect_Guy figured out how to change the text. What I and PG do need help with is changing the VWF.

The Pilots Profiles and Machine data can also be changed as well. However none have been translated. I was bored when inserting text into Lucy Liberty's profile.

That's what has been edited so far. ;D

Optomon, those screens are mighty sweet. Every time I see new ones I want to make a Castlevania hack. Anyways, I'm making a SMB3 hack. Here are some screens from various levels in SMB3 Workshop.

Wow. Are you using custom GFX in your SMB3 hack, AlexAR? What are you calling it?

You're welcome for that comment, NEON. (I'd have responded to that sooner, but I lost internet connention for 2 days for a reason I won't post here... Then there's the fact that we've been TRYING to get this wireless router to work for TWO DAYS. It STILL won't allow an internet connection! And since I moved all my work onto my laptop (finally), I can't post any updates about them until I can get this wi-fi working. *grumble*)

Ahhh the memories!! I remember setting up our wireless router a year ago. I think it took me freaking 48 hours of constant tinkering and restarting and hair-pulling before I got it functioning correctly.

Anyways, I do want to use new gfx, but Im a horrible artist. Maybe I will ask someone (Bio or DahrkDaiz) if I can borrow their gfx. Since this hack is kind of sequel to Toad's Treasure Quest, I guess I will call it..*drum-roll*..Toad's Treasure Quest 2

Aaah... Shodai Nekketsu Kouha Kunio-Kun already got translated, as you must know, but I remember that translation was kind of loosy, good to see you're working on a professional looking one.

This is not strictly true.

I am aware of a few translation patches for Shodai, and I know the hacker who made them (indeed, he gave me his full blessing on this one, and even helped me out by showing me his notes.) The first patch he released was actually two patches; you were supposed to switch from one to the other halfway through. The second was maybe 70-80% complete, and featured huffman compression of the dialogue data.

Rather than attempt to keep the rom within its original eight megabits, I tacked an extra couple of banks on to the end of it, putting my translation there with expanded name tables and virtually unlimited space for text. The tradeoff is that there's a lot of nothing after the two banks that contain the script, but hey, it looks really nice when played

Laxidman, the previous hacker, suffered repeated hardware failures and loss-of-files in relation to thi project. He still intends to complete his I believe, complete with Huffman compression of the dialogue, but hey, he knows full well that I've been working on my own version, so we certainly won't see a repeat of the AnusP Treasure of the Rudras fiasco.
