Screenshots from my new YI hack, SMW2: Yoshi's Grand Adventure:

1-1: The Basics

The first real level of my hack. It is pretty short if you decide not to go for a perfect score.



Keep your eyes peeled throughout the level for the red arrows that point out where the treasure is hidden.



Bonus area of the level. It shouldn't be too hard to figure out how to get the flower.



The last part of the level is a morphing section and it is entirely optional. If you do want a 100 score, then you have to get past the Green Piranha plants who are guarding the final treasures of the level. Don't worry, they only shoot out 1 cacti.



Don't even try leaving the morphing section either because both exits are blocked.

That's all the screenshots for now. Any comments?

Fabio,
That looks like a good first level. It looks like you kept it simple. Don't make it too hard until you get to like World 3. b/c that might make people not want to play your game anymore, if you know what I mean.
Well, the only real thing I noticed was that you didnt really change the background so it looks the same as the original. It looks like a good start,but maybe try to change the pallete a little bit. Also,maybe show more enemies like in the second and third screenshots.
I'm working on SMW2 also so maybe,if you want, I could help you w/making some levels or I could send you a patch of it,if you want. I have some screenshots of my game that I posted so maybe that will help,and I changed some of the icons on the map. Well,I hope this helps you a little bit.

fabio is one of those rare YI hackers that actually knows what the hell he's doing and how to make something that looks good. I like those new screens a lot. I especially like the little baseball boy puzzle - very interesting! I see no real glitches either, so it looks like you are off to a good start!

If you want, you can send me your hack now and then and I can check it for bugs/give you feedback. Looks very promising so far

Green-Kirby's pic inspired me to do a little GFX work on the original Metroid. I'm just sort of sprucing up the original GFX (most of the tiles only use 2 colors, so I'm changing that, and adding a little more depth to other stuff). But my question is, which looks better:

Well, I'm hoping that the door is just a placeholder. I'm trying to figure out how to change the middle portion, so I can just make it one big thing instead of three little things repeated three times.

Looking good, fabio! Let's just hope you can see this through to the very end.

Doc, mint green looks nice, although ideally, a darker shade of blue would make for a better mood to the graphics overall. Green looks too bright and vivid, in a bad way (although if it were outdoors, it would look nice).

I haven't posted screenshots of my SMW2 game so here are a few more. Let me know what you think or if you want to try the demo. I think I have fixed everything except for one problem in 2-5, I need someone to test it b/c I need help where I tried to make traintracks, the track breaks and you fall off.I 'm not sure what happens. Well,let know if you have any comments or anything. I hope you like the new screenshots.

Hidden Room is 2-1


New part in 2-4-figure out how to get the 2 keys-one to a bonus room and the other one to move the stake. It shouldnt be too hard to figure out,you just have to think how to get up on top.



Hidden Room in 2-5. It used to be only w/the 3-D Barcode things,but I added more like the color changes all of a sudden in the background.





New screenshots of 2-6


Oh,those white things are explosions in the background for effect,I guess. It's not a glitch. I tested it.



Now,I just have to do 2-8,and then I might put another demo. Oh,I didnt show any of 2-7,sorry,but it will be a surprise for now.It's one where you start in a castle and then you go outside for the ending. Here is one of 2-8. That happy face isnt stuck in the wall. IT's falling down to try to hit you.

Getting better Lespna, but I have a few things to suggest for the latest screens:

In the 5th screen, the jumping mouse has a glitched palette. As soon as you jump on it, it will turn into a regular mouse that steals your eggs. However - and I just encountered this in my hack too - the sprite that appears will become glitched. I suggest removing the jumping mouse, or change the sprite set/palette so that the colour works.

Oh, and in the 4th screen, while you got the 3-D spinny thing working fine, it looks awkward because nothing is attached to it. If you can, I would suggest putting some sort of vertical decoration to make it look like it has a support.

The rest look fine though

I actually have 2 more screenies from 5-8 to show off before I completely stop showing them forever



Eh, so many twists and turns make this a very immense factory indeed



Double Saw returns for it's second appearence in this hack! Now with 99% less glitchiness and 110% more awesome!

Comments before I slither away into nothing for the next 3 months?

Well here a quick preview of what I've got coming for SMB:TC2. No definate storyline yet, it will depend what I can or can't do with certain sprite and events. Same logic as the first game; Only 1 gigantic level in a castle. Just try and make it to the top to fight the main bad guy. This game however will have you collecting keys in order to get to him. Now for some screenies!




Title screen, in a beta stage right now.


Outside the castle. Also showing a new sprite.


Inside the castle. Don't expect much of a change gfx-wise through the levels. It just a castle for cry'n out loud..


Co-op mode makes a return! A whole new way to play the game when you select 2 players!




A bridge connecting to a second castle. Also shows how it gets darker outside as you progress though the game.


Its a huge boulder! Run away!


Just hang'n from a chain....

Chaos Force, let me assure you, there are plenty of ways to be creative with levels in a castle. One just needs to be creative, and be willing to bend things a little. Perhaps I could be of some assistance on that one?

ah, maybe I should reword it a little. I have enough ideas, thats fine. I meant not to expect much change gfx-wise. Believe me, I have plently of ideas for the rest of it.

That huge boulder thingie is incredibly ingenious. I would've never thought that a simple gfx change of a Mega Mole could make such an excellent enemy.

But the gfx needs really some work.
