I'm getting better at taking photographs and importing them to 4 color or 16 color pictures for use in hacks. I'm hoping I can use it a little bit in my Castlevania hack. Here's an example of a 16 color one I did.

If a hack was made entirely with graphics like that (and not that particular graphic, because that one is hilariously lame) it would probably look quite cool. If a graphic like that is ever mixed with other sprites, though, that's a recipe for disaster. Be careful.

Very nice work on the day/night cycle. Think you could also alter the sprite palettes slightly? They stand out a bit too much in nighttime.

As soon as I've knocked out mushroom cup demo, I'll write a guide with how it was done. There is still some learning going on...

Cleaning up track 3 now:

Yeah, it will be mostly used for things like paintings, the moon and things like that in the background. Pretty much stuff that I tested it with already.

I was bored and decided to start working on my SMW hack again...

Yes, I know about the status bar pallette problems. Also the level in the first screenshot is unfinished.

That second pic has a very Sonic 2-esque background to it. Good stuff.

I threw together some sprites today

I"m not so sure about the black outlines, dark brown/blue/purplish outlines seem to work better sometimes. of course this is just a neuteral background, I haven't actually tested them out on the tiles and what-not yet. everything on the NES seems so saturated.

everyone on IRC is being a dickhead and not giving me input so I figured ( I noticed alot of my work never seems to get much input, so I'm not sure if it's good or bad or what. I guess they just see so much of it they're used to it?)

Although that's a kind of style, I'm not a fan of the color choices though (like bright and dark oranges) and how they're used, makes the sprites look like colorized monochrome ones.

I'm liking those sprites setz. As already been stated by Stifu though, the colors irk me a little. Sprites themselves though look great

Here's a little pick from 5-4 of YIKR:

Just a little question, but... Why is Kamek attacking you in that level? Last I remember, Kamek was only supposed to attack you in 5-Extra and 6-8... Why 5-4?

Because it's a ROM hack of YI, and hackers are free to do whatever the hell they want in making levels (although whether or not they receive a positive response is a different story). They could even just forget everything about the original game and just use the game as an engine for something very different (e.g. Mario Adventure)

It looks nice, SNN. Could you elaborate on flashing FG, though? Give a visual example if possible.

Actually, I meant that I wanted to know his reasons behind using Kamek there.

S.N.N.: That pic looks pretty neat, you've been working on this for a long time, I can't wait to play this hack when it's finished, I loved SMW2 YI when I was a kid.

I'm working on a public domain bin of GFX files for NES hacks, so far I got almost 5 pages of sprites/backgrounds completed. It's pretty much made up mostly of non-nes game rips, Castlevania stuff, SMB stuff, and Mega Man stuff from hacks I didn't finish. I have close to 5 pages completed now. As an added bonus, I have some sprites and stuff from my first CV hack Orchestra of Despair. Here they are:

Page 1: Some Castlevania stuff

Page 2: Some more Castlevania stuff

Page 3: Even more Castlevania stuff

Page 4: Rips from the arcade game Haunted Castle

Page 5: SMB stuff
