I thought someone would point that out. Of course, these are just in their first phase, so I'll probably be tweaking it up anyway...but yeah, I'll probably shade the bottom right corner to make it look like a PROPER bigger version of the small ones.

I don't know why, SoNotNormal, but when I first saw those creatures, my first thought was "Kool-Aid Man."

Here's the unrevealed World 3 map for my SMW Hack. I still have to iron out the technicalities (i.e. where the tracks meet the water, the tracks in general), but other than that, this is very similar to what it will look like in the end. Except the tracks, which probably will get heavily reformed later (the ones shown here are mostly placeholder graphics).

I was inspired by the upcoming game, Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops.

I'm having a little fun with Final Fantasy. If you know me, then you know I lose interest quickly, and that my hacks don't get very far. But, like I said I'm having a little fun with this, that's all. What I wanted to do is like in MGS: Portable Ops, you can choose 4 characters, like Big Boss, Ocelot, Eva, FOXHOUND Soldier, etc. And what you do, is fight on the battlefield! You are in enemy territory, but you must survive!

Hack Title: METAL GEAR SOLID: LOYALTY (working title)

Those other 3 are temporary, hence the names "Temp".

Big Boss himself!

I want to turn the inventory screen into the Codec screen, and there lots of other things too. These are plans. Will they happen, probably not. I am going to have fun with this though, yes. I would like to do a little ASM hacking to, to make things even more interesting.

S.N.N.: Yeah, I think the shading's off. Try to make it like the smaller ones, with almost none in the top left and darker in the bottom right.

Rockman: looks cool. Spells could take the place of guns (and ammo!) and they could, like, beat enemies with lead pipes and sticks

asdf, the shot of that level is incredible; excellent new GFX! But the OW could use a little more work, as it looks quite NES-ish.

Thanks Celice! The Fire spell is going to be the grenades. I'm also going to try to alter the code so that Big Boss is always your first character, and you can't choose more than one of the same character.

And you know how Kojima is unique when it comes to Metal Gear, like what he did with all of the games? Like in Metal Gear Solid, you have to change the controller ports to stand a better chance against Psycho Mantis, and in Metal Gear Solid 2, you have that Fission Mailed sequence, and in MGS3, your food goes bad if days go by in real life. Well, what I want to do with the "RUN" option, is change it to "SURRENDER". If you use the SURRENDER option at any time, the game is over!

Started work on a hard piece of asm hacking thats progressing nicely. Might confuse a few people who aren't aware of the limitations or workings of Zelda3's overworld so best to show u a picture first...

Basicly changes the overlay (background 0) to another layer of the overworld where treetops, rooftops etc are displayed. This will basicly allow me to create some pretty cool areas. For example trees can now overlap each other and other objects such as buildings. The best thing shown in the picture though is trees can now be placed in multiple different surfaces such as sand and dirt (shown only roughly in the picture for testing purposes... where not previously aloud. Hoping to get it transfered over to my actual hacked rom soon so i can start work on it again.

*pants* Been working endlessly for 3 days getting this ASM hack to work

As you see here, there are two pipes. One leads to world 2, the other to world 3. These are "locked" pipes. These don't even show up until you beat the castle (as you can see in the upper right hand corner)

Once that is done, you move over a pipe that's locked (you see these pipes have no "hole") and press A. If you have the required amount of green coins (number of green coins shown in the right side of the status bar) you will enter the pipe and those coins will be deduceted.

Now once you've entered this pipe, every pipe in the game that leads to world 2 is unlocked

The icon below the coins display is the number of levels you've completed with a green coin. I may change this to display something else, we'll see where that goes. But this was not an easy hack to implement. Now I'm going to go eat ice cream and rest.

I think that display would be more usfull if it counted down, and displayed the amount of levels you havn't completed with the coin

The pac man hack is nice and looks great, any asm to cut off the looping on later levels for difficulty possible, that be nice.

Also for the pallette thing, I wasn't quite sure what this ment. You mean you change the pallette set the sprite uses from being with wolverines pallette set?

Wow. I guess not a lot of people really understand what you're doing here, this deserves some praise. I assume everything on the overworld still works like it should, like picking up the bushes will make them vanish in either layer? I don't how far you are along with it, but it's looking nice.

Thanks for the praise. So far i have the asm patch working so that each light world area has the equivalent dark world area as its overlay. The scrolling is sorted however some of it such as bumping into walls doesnt have the desired affect.

Still a lot of work to get done but i also looking into how i can get link to walk over and under objects...not sure if its possible yet though.

EDIT: Forgot to answer your question about the layers functioning. Ignore the picture when it shows bushes on both..it was just a sample of how it works. Those bushes on BG0 cannot be picked up. The main focus is the ability to put elements on top of others and as far as interaction with BG0 goes there will be very little if any at all.

I opened up the Wolverine rom to look for that sprite by searching for its tile values 02 04 03 05 and found nothing, then i searched for 02 03 04 05 and couldnt find that sprite adress anywhere. You might have to go through and look for every instance of the value 02, change the value, reset the rom, and look to see if it changed the Hamburger sprite. If you were able to change the sprite, than look for other values around that hex value location and it may be the pallete value.

I was only able to do this once ina very old NES game, it could be much more complicated in this rom, so theres no promise this will work.

It looks all right, DahrkDaiz, but the ground seems a bit too rocky, so to speak. I'd expect a jungle ground to be more mossy, with grassy and dirt. Also, the Mario-style vine seems a bit out of place in that awesome graphical orgy.

Good I was doing the same before you, now I know i was already on the right track. Your right this game is realy troublesome if i have to go through every 02 byte, I'll try it, then when it won't work I have to to leave it the same, or do a trick with the black and yellow brown to make the burger look darker in the patty.

BTW darkdaiz is that a spikey hat I see!! Can you attack from below with it?
