I suspect there was palette work involved, but I agree with the part about removing them. The custom graphics were vastly superior to the original ones. The original ones are a little too bright. The custom ones have a more "stonish" look to them.

Palette, graphics, whatever; I imagine he's maybe even edited the data for what tiles make up blocks / the shape of blocks (TSA and VSSA stuff) in his hack. Unless you're using just an editor and know nothing about the ROM you're editing, restoring anything from a backup shouldn't be too hard or time-consuming if you're restoring all of something (all graphics, all VSSA, all palettes, etc). It gets a little more complex if you're restoring bits of stuff (especially code), but my point is that I don't see how this could have taken more than 10 minutes since restoring chunks in a hex editor or graphic editor (such as Hex Workshop and TLP) is easy as pie.

Actually the doors looks way better it the blue bubble thing part. Good shading, actually thats probab;y about the best you can make em look. You if posible should make the tube thing in between them more like SM, rather then the blocks.

That's what I was referring to with 'doors' - the actual, functional part of the door / door cover pair. I did notice, though, that at one point I said spherical; I meant to say cylindrical. Anyway, redoing the door covers wouldn't take 10 tiles, but rather only 6, some of which are already being used by the current door cover. The door itself, though, is 12 tiles, 2 of which are in the pattern table, so you only need 10 more, as I was saying earlier.

Notice what's cool about this screen? There's two locks, each with a different key hole. And there's two keys. Hmmmmm

I know this has nothing to do with the doors (which are awesome), but the flat green ground squares look rather dull next to the other, more detailed map graphics. Any chance you could add some slight texturing to them (like you did around the edges of the flower and grass tiles)?

Actually I could, but I decided against it because A) That would be way too much stuff going on for one person to process on the screen (already tried it, it tends to give me a headache). B) when the locks disappear after destroying them, they need to leave behind the same tile everytime, thus, leaving the blank, bland grass tile behind.

I agree that too many textured grass tiles would look really cluttered. I like it how it is.

DahrkDaiz: How about adding texture to like 1 tile out of 4 or something ?

Something a bit like that...

Texture would be nice on the ground, yes. Something like Stifu did...except not an exact copy

Also, if it is a free roaming OW, then what would be the point of 2 and 3? Do they give you a key to open the locks or something, or are they just there to be beaten to compelete the world

Every level has a green coin. Green coins must be collected to open up pipes that lead to other worlds. So here you can complete level 2 or 3 to add a green coin to your collection (note, just completing a level doesn't earn you the green coin, you must find it within the level). By having seemingly randomly placed levels, you can choose what level you want to play, when, what order and which ones to avoid. Plus some levels main contain secrets or special bonuses.

I'm going to post pics here rather then the other thread, then i'll put new pics up there when I release the new patch.

Now they dont shoot nerf balls at you anymore.

A fix of the burger, I could'nt do anything ealse as wolverines pallette is used for the burger too, so it's at least a chicken patty.

The bricks, what you think of them, decent?

Should the bottle be changed to something else, it's a health and berzerker increaser.

If you play the original you can see a small difference in the pic, I added dithering into the shading

The bubbles are now dark to be toxic, because normal bubbles hurting wolverine makes no sence at all. Especialy since you got an air meter and in reality it should've gave him more air.

EDIT:Changed to photo bucket

BOBTHEVILA -

I was changing pallete adresses today in my Donkey Kong 2 hack, I found that what pallete sprites used was found very close to the pallete graphics. Try searching for the hex values of the top 2 squares of the hamburger (found using the PPU viewer in FCEUXD), and one of those numbers next to it may allow you to use a different pallete.

I'm liking the idea of a improved Wolverine game, the original wasn't too bad of a game, but the graphics sucked. It plays just like the Wolverine level in "Spider-man and X-men" for the Genesis. You might want to reference that game for ideas.

So lets se you mean the pallette asigner is near the sprite in hex. K I don't think I did it right, you need to tell me what im looking for for the number next to the burger.

BTW the patty of the burger is actually on the bottem 2 squares, shall I look for that instead?

I'm glad you like it Let me know when you do, because you will have to play around in EggVine, and it could get tricky to find (unless you do the palettes a different way )

And...just...couldn't...resist....ARGH!

Meet the Mys-Tiks. Small and cute they are...definitely cute. These always-smiling creatures have their own ways of helping Yoshi on his adventure (in case you can't tell, they act like the Mother Duck) Use them to your advantage...but don't be seduced by their cuteness ... or else

The small ones look good, the big one looks kind of plain, but probably looks better when you step on him. Maybe add a little more shading to the big one because it clashes a little with the other guys. Otherwise cool.
