Not spectacular or anything but it's prettier than the previous world 1 map I think.

Sweet. Bt, the right tile in the check mark is cut off on level tiles 2 and 5... it's looks off because of that.

it's an animated tile, the check mark draws over and over during the sequence.

DD, those dungeon windows look great! Simple, but they absolutely add a lot to the background.

Any reason why the second box in the bottom right corner of the screen (to the right of the score) is shifted a few pixels to the right? Is it animated or something?

I can answer this one DD.

The 1st block on the left is seperated from the other 2 because it has a completely seperate function.

Block #1 is an item holding block that behaves the same as in SMW, anytime during gameplay you can hit 'select' and this item will fall from the sky.

Blocks #2 & #3 are your basic card holders, to display the cards earned while completing a level.

I've felt since playing the demos, that the art for the 2nd block should be either moved to the left of the "run bar", or have a different border, or use a different color for the inside to accent it's role as the 'item box'

Actually, for #1 you're half right. It's works like SMW only for Mario's side. For Luigi's side it's an item box but the item in said box functions differently for each item.

here what I've been working on the last 2 day:

a fully working smb2 stopwatch, press select to activate it, it will stay in action until the counter reach 0 (much like MM2 timestopper)

Looks like someone's doing some of the samethings I've done... Looks like I have a bit of competition! I like! Really, it makes others who are capable to work that bit harder to make a better hack. Atleast it does for me.

I wasn't aware that you've made one when I've made mine, now that I look within your demo in YY-CHR I can clearly see the stopwatch

Yes, mine is equippable from the map screen. Except mine can be equipped multiple times for multiple times the effect (up to eight times).

IMO the stones have a tad bit too much contrast, compared to the source...

I agree with creaothceann, the stones a bit bright. Just tone them down a little Your other screenies, and even the rest of the dungeon screenie, look really good. I like the OW now that it has detail

And of course, I come bearing more beautiful screenies of the best YI hack ever known to man....and they show my beautiful level 4-6: Jungle Fever

Comment if you want, but I know they'll are be positive (k Ill stop with the whole vain thing now)

Also though they look great, if you look closely they are a tad different looking then the snes ver. castle. Maybe you can edit them alittle closer to the snes, unless this is something you actually changed it to too look alittle different.

I think DarkDaiz has the best MB3 hacks ever, he should do a mario world asm. Maybe even port if possible MA to SMAS SMB3.

Hey S.N.N. are those rocks editable in YY-CHR? Bowser from SMW was and he was mode7 too. Maybe you could make them normal high detail rocks or some thing else. Never seen that before in YI where a normal gray or brown boulder comes at you.

S.N.N., you're still doing a heck of a great job as I can see!

Also, your sig says you're working on level 4-8, any idea when you might be able to show us some screenies? I really like the level name.

*screenshots, and he'll show them when he's ready (when he's finished the level).

As for the screenshots, SoNotNormal, that looks intense. The place in the first screenshot looks difficult to get past (or it may just be sleep deprivation).

As for DahrkDaiz's dungeon graphics, I agree with their having too high contrast. They look nothing like the counterparts from the game they were ripped from.

Speaking of Mario, here's what the general level graphics World 3 from my SMW Hack will look like. This doesn't show everything that will be in there (most notably the purple triangle replacement and foreground filler), and the colors are likely going to change, but what the hell.

@BOBTHEVILA: The rocks are editable in YY-CHR, yes. I was strongly considering editing those along with the other I had changed, but I'm a pretty terrible artist and ended up producing a pile of crap. So I decided against touching them again

@Hawksun: Yes, 4-8 is the one in progress. However, I never show screenies of the level I'm currently on...typically I go 2 levels behind...when I'm on 5-2, you'll see screenies of 4-8

(maybe if you beg enough, I'll give in )

@asdf: Nah, it's not really that hard. The top rock bounces off the bottom rock, so it's actually safer NOT to jump here And your carnival graphics fucking rock. Nuff said.
