Huh, that is quite strange. It's like a mirror of yours.

But just for the record:

1. I rarely play SMB3 hacks
2. I never played that hack, or saw its screens before.
3. I didn't know you were an SMB3 hacker. _¬

The only major similarity is that they have hanging platforms. Call the cops! He used hanging platforms!

No really, I can see his point. What about the flying cheep-cheeps? And the way one platform slides under another?

Besides that, I don't think he was actually trying to accuse me of anything. _¬

Heh, thank you for recognizing the lightness of my use of the word "suspiciously."

As for the rest of you: Eat my ass and lighten the hell up.

Anyway, your use of the long wooden platforms looks a lot better than the individual wooden blocks I was using... I don't know why I didn't use those. But anyway! Good luck and keep us posted. I'd be interested in seeing some of your other levels.

Hehehe, I'm adding something to Mario Adventure 2... something big, sorta big...

There are three "level" tiles show here: the 6 is a normal level, it has not een played yet. The ones with a check mark have been completed, but the others (you can't see the icon very well here) has a coin icon in the corner... what could this mean? hmmm...

Edit:

Coin icon shown clearly...

I'm going to take a stab and guess it means you haven't gotten all the coins yet.

...eh, going on what I think it is...

Still looks interesting, though...

It looks to me those coins spin in the level boxes, I'm guessin you gotta find the red coin like in your demo back in 2004. It looks tight though.

The way it works is that you choose to play Mario or Luigi's side. If you complete a world, you may go back to it and the levels you completed before will be saved (check boxes over the tile). Levels that you've found the hidden green coin in will have a coin icon beside them. But don't be fooled, if you complete a level and go back to get it's coin, don't think you can just press start + select to complete the level. No, if you grab the green coin, you MUST complete the stage legit, Start+Select to escape a level will be disabled. What happens when you collect all the green coins in the game? We'll see what that does later on....

Does that mean that if you get the coin by accident, or change your mind, you can't simply press start-select to ditch the coin, or that whenever you use start-select while you have the coin you'll lose it, unless you got it before and are simply reentering the level for, say, a powerup.

If you've beaten a level, regardless of getting the coin or not, you can re-enter and exit it with Start + Select. Let's say you re-enter a level to find the hidden coin. You find it, you cannot press start + select to exit the level to "register" that you got the coin, you must complete the level by the legit means. After you complete the level with the coin in hand, you can still re-enter it, but now that green coin won't be in the stage (so you can't replay the same level and stock up on green coins) but you can still press Start + Select to exit the stage.

May you could still have a green outlined coin in it, like in New Super Mario Bros. or Super Mario 64. You can collect it, for may, maxing out the score for one particular level (like in Yoshi's Island) or just to show friends where the coin is located.

DahrkDaiz: It might be better, if possible, to allow Start+Select anyway, just that you'd lose the green coin. The player will notice the coin icon is still there on the map, and that being lazy isn't the way to go.

Heres something I've been working on for SMW.

Nope, no edited graphics - it's all about level design.

What do ya think? How can it be improved?

A few nitpicky things: The corner blocks in the water don't look quite right, and you have a garbage tile above the first nipper plant. I know you said no new graphics, but it would probably be good to draw in a ground-corner-with-water graphic.

Otherwise, it looks pretty good.

I really like it, but the very last part before the half-way mark -- the part with the small pipes and the two cloud tiles -- looks kind of thrown-in and weird compared to the rest of the level, which looks pretty cool.

These new screenshots look good, Darkdaiz. Your original Mario Adventure is awesome, I must have beat it 5 times over. This new green coin function reminds me of New Super Mario Bros's Star Coins.

BTW Dark, have you ever considered making levels with secret exits? It could open up some interesting ideas.

If you really are shooting for the end of year, this will be a very welcome holiday gift.

Awesome. Purely awesome. I really can't wait for this- I also can't emphasize how much of a fan I am of Mario Adventure. You're like a celebrity to me- I nearly hit the wall when I learned a Mario Adventure 2 was in the works.

There is one thing I'm worried about- will the excessive amount of power ups make the game seem a bit too... clunky? Especially Fire Storm- that seems uber powerful.
