I have a ZST, SRM, SMC, and a DSC Super Mario world ROM. None of these will work in my emulator (even if I go to open with........and select it, it dosn't appear for me to use). Why do I have so many files?

ZST is a ZSNES Save State (IE a dump of the game's RAM)
SRM is an SRAM file (a dump of the game's SRAM)
SMC is a ROM. If it doesn't work you may have a bad copy or a bad emulator.

DSC I can't help you with.

ZSNES has been known to just occasionally stop working like that. Best to redownload the ROM and emulator, just to be on the safe side.

Redownloading the emulator dosn't work and I can't get a new ROM because this ROM is my hack. When I open the ROM through Lunar Magic it works but not when I open it in the file.

Yes it does make sence. Editors make mistakes. FuSoYa is good, but he isn't god. This is why you're supposed to make backups of your hacks.

.dsc is a map16 description file for use in Lunar Magic, I believe.

So are you saying the editor wrecked my ROM?

Something did. Likely one of the less well-coded editors *ahem*blocktool*ahem*. Or you did something wrong; applying incompatible patches, inserting blocks wrong, bad hex editing, etc... Or it just happened at random. (Happened to me once, I opened the ROM and all the message boxes were garbled. )

That could possibly be why. It the only other program other than Lunar Magic I have used with the rom. I do have back up but I used block tool on that ROM to (sense it was just a copy of the origional). I never knew blocktool could do that or I wouldn't of used it. Is there anyway to make my ROM useable again?

Not as far as I know, you just had to back up your original ROM. Now you're screwed

If you still can open it in Lunar Magic, you still can export the Levels and import them in the new rom. So your progress isn't really gone to waste.

Open LM
Open deadrom
Open overworld editor
Go back to LM and open newrom
Go back to overworld editor and hit save

I'm not sure if it'll get events, though, but I can't think of any reason why it wouldn't.

A faster way to export levels = File, Export, multiple levels, then give them a base name, and possibly their own folder, then import them all to your backup.
