Okay, in your honest opinion.. what are the chances of intelligent life forming on other planets? Do you think they've "contacted" us? And, do you think they ever will? How would religions deal with the existence of aliens if it was proven true?

Many people think that aliens much more advanced than us, I don't. I think that if we're able to exist at this stage of our development... that other life forms could either be lower than us or higher than us technologically speaking.

I also have alot of other thoughts on aliens. But, what are your thoughts?

If aliens did exist, (which I hope they do) I would want them to be just about the same intelligence as us. It'd be nice to take vacatios to other planets.

Also, astrologists have discovered that small bacterial life forms exist in Mars. So, in a couple billion years if the Sun doesn't explode, we may have intelligent life on another planet!

As for religious details, I know there will be missionaries who will stop at nothing to "spread the word of God" to outside lifeforms, that could be a problem to beliefs they may or may not have.

Emphasis mine.

Never trust somebody who can't tell the difference between astronomers and astrologers.

And no: they discovered evidence that there may have been bacterial life on Mars in the past. The evidence was inconclusive (maybe was discarded, I don't keep too up-to-date), and it was fossilized, not living. Life as we know it cannot live on present-day Mars.

Back on topic: I'm still holding out for fish on one of Jupiter's moons.

My history teacher saw a UFO. So did my dad. Of course, my teacher also believes in government conspiracies...

I hope there are aliens out there. This planet has become a little too boring. We need things to explore, dagnabbit!

There has to be extraterrestrial life out there somewhere. Although there is no proof as of now barring anecdotal evidence, that still doesn't mean it's not possible. Hell, if everyone used the "not true unless science supports it" method of thought, we wouldn't have many of the inventions we have today.

How big is the universe? What are the chances of there not being intelligent life elsewhere? I mean, to think that we're the only ones would really make me rethink creationism ideas...
There must be other intelligent life. To say that they contacted us is, well, debatable at best. Just looking at the sheer size of the universe should speak for itself, really

I don't think it is at all impossible, but the thought doesn't interest me. I'm happy right here, in this city, in this state, in this country, on this planet, and I think that if there are other life forms, they feel the same way. Where they are.
I choose to just keep out of it.

No they don't.

Did you see War of the Worlds, Independence Day, Mars Attacks, and to a lesser extent Men in Black?

They are out there. Planning. They will come and and kill or kidnap everyone important, leaving only the clueless behind.

That means only Ailure and Traps will remain.

Mankind is doomed.

And to add something of intelligence, yes I do believe they may be something out there. The universe is big like Clockworks previously stated and well, for us to be the only ones, really sucks.

Edit: Alastor is right, Ailure isn't clueless. I'm sorry Ailure

You are right. I made the appropriate edit to my previous post.

Oh, I also forgot to mention E.T. probably one of the smartest aliens out there. He befriended the little girl and some other people. But deep down, in his glowing chest, he is pure evil. He will eventually come back and fry our asses.

Trust me.

Not necessarily. Several banned members will probably be spared. Granted, they probably only speed up the downfall of mankind. But not to worry. I'm sure we'll all be dead before aliens show up. Either that or the guys at Area 51 will be doing some sort of horrible act of....something...to them. The government will deny it all, of course. They're planning a human-alien cross breeding program! They're testing it out on themselves first! This can only spell trouble.

Given how large the solar system is, I'd say there is a chance that other life forms exist; then again, they could be clear on the other end of the galaxy and have no knowledge that we exist.

It's possible but I doubt we'll ever find out the answer. Certainly not this century.

No.

Okay, on the serious side of this...

I just think it's ridiculous to even talk about this. It's pretty damned obvious life exists outside of our planet; with how big the universe is it'd be horridly surprising if there wasn't. However, no, no contact. Again, it's big. That'd be improbable

YESSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!! (and dammit, I see what you did there and why you did it, cheap skate). And you're forgetting the real *REAL* discussion. What do these aliens look like? Sure, in many reports, they seemingly look like grey-ish beings with huge heads and large eyes, but who's to say they aren't just using some sort of mind-tricking device to make them appear what we view aliens as?

And it's obvious why they aren't so public with us. If they weren't, the media would go crazy. Although the government's covering everything up isn't exactly the best thing to do, either.

As far as 'life' existing...if you call something like bacteria and stuff like that, then that's already practically been proven to exist outside the Earth.

If that's possible, then there's a good bet that there's life out there somewhere...but it makes me wonder if they're purposefully avoiding us for some reason...sort of like how net geeks try to avoid the lamers and their grotesque ways.

Now, itīs more accurate.

Anyway, I think thereīs a very little chance that weīre alone in the Universe. How big is the chance that only one Planet is populated when there might be billions we havenīt even seen yet?

What KIND of life that exists on other planets can be discussed.

Something like that for me, the universe is so big that there's probably life outside of earth.... question is if they know about us, if they're "intilligent" and if they're more advanced than us. We might be the most advanced civilization in the universe. We might not.

I think thats bullcrap. But then again when dont I have doubts. I just dont think there could be anything else. If they did come "visit" why does it have to be top secret. I wouldnt panic if I heard that. It just seems.... not likely.

I think there is other life in the galaxy, but hopefully they arent like the movies depict them..or else we are all dead, maybe not anytime soon, but maybe whenever they do visit us. I think it would be awesome to meet another life form, and to go to other planets for say vacations, or even moving to another planet. I dont think any of this will happen soon but maybe 50-60 years we may see something. if not it will be after we are all dead, although I would really like to be alive for it. Although god knows what technology we will have within the next 50 years, we might be able to live alot longer, or something like that.
