I'm making an elevator-type level for my hack, and I want it to go slowly downward. However, the normal auto-scroll sprite command doesn't seem to work in vertical levels.
I've tried using layer 2 sinks (Layer two turned into garbage and I fell to my death), and Layer 2 falls (It fell much too quickly). I also need the level to not scroll horizontally (I tried using sideways short, but that caused layer 2 to rock back and forth).

Basically, I want it to be like the elevator level in SMWR 2 (Yeah, I'm taking the idea I'll give credit).

How do I do it?

I think you have to use Mario World Reconfigurator for this.
You copy and paste the sprite info for horizontal auto scroll to an unused sprite, you have to change a byte (I don't know which one) so that it changes from horizontal to vertical scroll. I don't know if that will work or not, I'm just guessing.

What would I look for on the memory map database? "Vertical-auto scroll byte"?

Guys I really need this I could work around the palette stupidity on the overworld, but I really have no idea what to do here.

Do I need special ASM? I can work it out if I do.

(as a side note, don't post in my other topic, since doing so would be a bump. Not to mention I took care of it myself, after hacking and slashing for a few days. this is mostly a disclaimer so if someone does anyway, I won't get the blame for it )

I think you'd need to use ASM. I'd tell you how, but unfortunately, I never got this to work either. The visual level layout would repeat two screens and lag behind the physical layout.

HyperHacker, if I remember correctly, that only applies to upward vertical scrolling. Downward scrolling doesn't glitch like that, but unfortunetly, those levels are slightly stupid at times. Maybe it's just in SMWR2 though. Damnedable spikes that creep up on you like that.
