Who else lifts? I've been picking up heavy things and putting them down for over four years. My routine has changed more than a few times since then based on my goals and the current state of my body (for example, my upper body was majorly out of whack a year ago, so I had to stick to a limited set of machine exercises). Right now, I'm doing my favorite routine thus far - Bill Starr's 5x5. It's efficient, effective, and FUN, and it doesn't fry my lower back or central nervous system, so I can do aerobic exercise on two or so non-lifting days each week without messing myself up.

Haven't started yet, but I'm sure you've got plenty of resources for beginners... (ahem hinthintwinkwinknudgenudge)

I hate lifting weights.

My dad took me to the gym a few times, and I hated every second of it. I'm really thinking about starting again though, I need to be in shape if I have any chance of playing ball in college.

Did you check the responses you got? *pokepokepoke* Somebody beat me to posting one of my favorite sites. Personally, I'd use one of her beginner or intermediate full-body routines, and then after you feel pretty confident with the big compound exercises (squat, deadlift, bench, military press, row), you can try a more challenging routine if you like.

I lift weights.

Well, more like 'I will once again'

I started lifting weights in April but stopped during the summer out of laziness. Then I started again three weeks ago but had to stop due to some chest pains I was experiencing when combining the stress of the weights and jogging a few miles during the week. Then I got sick so I'll basically be up and running to begin once again on Thursday.

I probably do around 7 different exercises (Bench, Squat, Deadlift, Shoulder Press, etc...)

I'm taking it a bit slow since I do the exercises at home and I have a small frame. Translation: I am short and skinny and I don't want to hurt myself.

Yeah, but I was hinting that you should post them here. Maybe I'll look at those routines for Wednesday's trip. Definitely before next week.

I used to work out with weight machines. I still would, but the school got new ones I don't like. I miss it. 210 on squats. (My weight + almost a hundred pounds)

My best ass to grass squat was 140 pounds - about five pounds less than my weight at the time. And my best deadlift was 200 - 133% of my current bodyweight. (I tend to fluctuate between 145 and 155 pounds.) It was a bit sketchy, but it counted, and I didn't use a belt or straps, either. (Though I did drop the bar pretty much right after I put it down. ) The weights I currently use are not nearly as impressive because I'm not working at anything near my 1-rep max.

Definitely not. I have strong legs, a semi-strong stomach, but my arms? No way. I played softball for 3-4 years, so I did develop some muscle (playing catcher, you have to be able to throw out anyone stealing, ect) but it's noticable in daily life that my arms are simply... not built. Or they are, but really don't show it. Is that possible?
Now if we're talking leg presses....

I have screwed up hands so I excercise with one of those gripper things. You know, the things you squeeze for hand excersise? (what do you call them...oh...)

I used to lift weights back in high school. My brother was majorly into it and he got me going for a while but it didn't take.

I lift weights when I go to the gym. but when it comes to those big weights I always do it with my friend L. We sparr each other in case one of us needs a hand.

My gym class is in the weight room now, so I'll be lifting for two weeks. I'm focusing on my abs right now, because that needs the most work. Also workin' on biceps and triceps.
Omg, I posted in the Sports Center.
