If I were talking about someone who was short, slim, and enyoyed poetry, would you say this guy is a truck driver or an Ivy League professor in the english department?
I want to see your reasons for what you chose, who am I most likely reffering to?
I'll explain my logic to who I am reffering to after I see some posts.

I have a feeling most people'd say the prof given that you'd expect most truck drivers to not give so much as a damn about poetry.

Why?

I want to see what people will use to arrive at their answer, logic or previous experience to what they've learned.

Neither. Someone's body shape and one of their interests are not nearly enough information to make an educated guess at their profession from the options in this poll. Granted, if one of the options were World's Strongest Man champion, the slim build would rule that out. However, truck drivers can certainly be short and slim and like poetry.

I would have sided with truck driver...because I'm paranoid about odd questions...usually thinking there is some trickery to this or something

I knew someone would do that, but "I'm choosing this because it must be a trick question" isn't my favorite type of reasoning.
Use logic to approach this, don't just give an answer because you think I might be trying to trick you guys, or even trick you guys by thinking I'm trying to trick you guys and think that the weird answer is the right answer and the obvious answer is wrong.
There's a reasonable way to approach this.

See, that would be my logic but I'm going for the point of view that most people would infer.

Well, yeah, I would say that he could be both, or neither. What a person looks like, and the persons interests doesn't have to say anything about what he does for a living.

Of course, people might link an interest for reading and poetry to people of higher education, and might thus say that it's more likely for the person to be a professor in english, than a truck driver.

Well, sorry if I think that this is one of the most obvious trick questions I've seen so far. Either the obvious answer - the professor - is wrong and you're seeing who picks the obvious and is wrong, or the obvious answer is right and you're seeing how many people think it's a trick question, thus essentially turning it into one by throwing such an unlikely answer in.

Did I confuse anyone there?

Yeah... you'd be generalizing by choosing either person, because there's no certain way to pick. Their interests and body have no effect on them as individuals.

Which is he, or which is he more likely to be? There's obviously no way of determining which he is, but logically he is more likely to be a professor. Truck drivers tend to work long hours, so most of the time they're either driving (almost no physical activitity), or sleeping. Unless you have a very high metabolism, its kind of hard to stay thin like that. It also doesn't leave alot of time to read poetry.

emcee has the right logic, but for the wrong answer.
Anyways, your probably all saying Truck driver because you know I'm trying to trick you, but you still don't know how I arrived at the answer.
Come on you guys! Figure out how it is more probable that I'm speaking about a truck driver rather than an Ivy League profesor.
Oh, and the reason I'm doing this is something I learned in psychology, so far my teacher hit the nail on the head with your guys' answers.

You should instead be apologizing for making an insipid poll/thread which has many correct answers which demands we find the stupidest one.

Wow, that's a good idea. But did you notice the OTHER spelling mistakes!?

I'm guessing the truck driver on this one.

I agree but most peoples views of this are that truck drivers are slightly overweight and drinks a lot of beer.

That, however, isnīt the case. People have just had the bad luck to see most of those kind of truck drivers.

My dad is atruck driver and he isnīt overweight.

Everyone can like poetry. Itīs just a matter of interests.

Well it could be a toss up either way on everything but the skinny part. While with proper discipline it's possible, trucking doesn't seem conducive to good health. If I had to pick I'd go with professor. However there's insufficient data for an accurate answer.
