I just love LTE and I was wondering if any of you know any other instrumental bands like that. So ?

heh, though Dream Theater is not always intrumental ( it does have major musical sections ) you will LOVE IT. Since three of the four members in LTE are in Dream Theater aswell

TransAtlantic or maybe Office of Strategic Influence might be close, but I can't find their music anywhere. Interestingly enough they're also DT side projects. Really, there's nothing else that sounds like Liquid Tension Experiment except if one or more musicians were in it. Jordan Rudess' solo and duet albums offer some further stuff. In An Evening w/ John Petrucci and Jordan Rudess (btw the closest thing yet to a 'dream theater unplugged' thing) in particular, you'll hear small odds and ends from Three Minute Warning in a few of the songs. Some of Phish's better tunes might interest you, if you're into really long improv with some quirky humorus sections. If you're into more jazzish stuff then there's probably many more supergroup type albums with technical but fun material. (edited by Supersuit on 01-17-06 10:25 PM) |
