It's not his case I'm talking about, it's his aims. What does he plan to accomplish?

He wants to prove that a religion that has been around for over 2000 years to be wrong.

Or something like that.

"You mean you guys don't believe in Robot Jesus?"
"We believe that he was built, and that he was a very well-programmed robot, but he's not our messiah."

Anyway, from that site...
"Cascioli says he didn't exist. And I said that he did," (Righi) said. "The judge will decide if Christ exists or not."
And next week, the judge will decide whether hotdogs are better than hamburgers. He's also expected to decide whether the universe began at some point, or whether it's always been around. Way to go, Italia! It's really uplifting to see that America isn't the only country making a fool of itself.

I think you're all taking this too seriously~ There's no way he will win, agreed. But, he does raise a good point. Some people believe the Vatican, whatever they say, and you could argue that that puts the Vatican in a position of trust, like teachers. If a teacher taught you something wrong, you'd be annoyed, right? So, if the Vatican is teaching something wrong, that's equally bad, no? To be honest, I feel the Vatican does teach some untruths, even according the the Bible, regardless of whether the Bible is the whole truth or not.

Do you ever see Catholics, or christens going after atheists saying, "We're gonna sue you cause you don't believe anything, and that’s wrong!" No, that does not happen, and if it ever does they'd probably say, "Just cause we don't believe doesn’t mean you should persecute!"
I've never seen people file lawsuits over kids being lied to about Santa, or the Easter Bunny. If he doesn’t believe, that doesn’t mean the rest of the world can't.

What gets me about this is that people just kind of brush this off as some silly crackpot who is basically harmless. Yet if the tables were turned and some religious person was suing an atheist because he didn't believe, you know that everyone would be up in arms and ready to riot. It's a really nasty double standard.

There are nutty left-wingers all the time who are on this crusade against religion and they are seen as harmless or even beneficial! Yet if a religious authority ever tried to fight FOR religion in a court, they would be demonized by the media as trying to crush religious freedom.

Remember, it's freedom OF religion, not freedom FROM religion. Just because you don't belive in something, doesn't mean you don't have to deal with people who do. The world is full of people who disagree with you. That's life.

Guys like this are no better then radical fundamentalist zelots like the Taliban who try to impose their beliefs on others.
