I'm having some palette issues when I make a submap (V.O.B) use an ExGFX file. Whenever I replace GFX file 1E with ExGFX file 89 (Which SHOULD be an exact duplicate), the colors of pipes, level tiles, castles, and exit tile gates become messed up. I can't figure out why, because the only modification I made to GFX 1E was to rename it ExGFX89 and put it in the ExGFX folder.

Also, when, as a test, I loaded ExGFX89 in place of GFX1E on the overworld map, the colors didn't become messed up

I can post a picture of the messed up palettes if you need me to - I'm just too lazy to host it now (I'm using YY-CHR if that matters)

If, however, someone has made a patch that gives the V.O.B an independant palette from Vanilla Dome, that would be just as good.

And yes, I read the help file. It didn't have any relevant information...

I just ran into this same problem today, and what I want to know is why Fu even put both palettes on if you can't use them independently (sp?) anyway, I think the best you can do is make one submap foreground use one palette (e.g. palette 1) and the other submap a different palette (e.g. palette 2). I hope someone will come up with a patch someday soon, but until then I suppose we'll have to wait.

A possible workaround (If I get lucky enough) is to make all of the other maps and submaps use ExGFX89, and edit the graphics of GFX1E to my liking. This relies on the palettes not messing up for submaps (I only tried it on the overworld...).

Also, the only useable palettes are 4, 5, 6, and 7 if you aren't getting super-creative with the ExGFX. 0, 1, 2, and 3 turn weird colors when you use thme in the game as compared to Lunar Magic.

I'll go try it now.

EDIT: Nope, the colors are butchered when I load ExGFX89 into Yoshi's Island submap. They only want to work correctly in the main overworld map. The palettes the Layer 1 tiles that are being messed up in color seem to be loading palettes that are supposed to be used for Layer 2 tiles. Still have to mess around with it some more...

...unless someone can tell me what I'm doing wrong.
