This will be the official update thread for my hack. No release yet, but I have pics.

Sonic 2 Options screen in Sonic 1, edited for my hack. Thank Stealth for that one.


Mighty in GHZ.


Shadow in SLZ. Enough angst for you? =P


Yes this is omfg perfect spindash in S1, dust and all. Thank Stealth again for that one.


Features as of now include:

- Seperate music for each act

- S2 level select and options menus edited to fit with my hack (Stealth)

- Perfect Spindash for each character (Stealth)

- 3 Characters: Sonic, Mighty and Shadow -- Each later to have thier own special move and physics stats. Thanks to Yuski for Mighty sprites and JohnnyUK for Shadow sprites.

- Sonic 2 running physics -- Run down a slope in SLZ and you'll go as fast as you do in CPZ. AKA slope related acceleration. (Stealth)

Wow is all i can say to that...WoW I totaly have to have some words with stealth about my 3k hack :p Reckon it would be possible to give shadow chaos control and freeze onscreen enemys? Or even use is rocket shoes to glide?

ROFL! Honestly, I wonder how many more times you'll have to deal with that suggestion, Tweaker. =P

I already made my suggestion at the SSRG, a double jump modeled after the electric shield in S3.

Also, perhaps some of those speed-increasing spinning-tire things from S2? You know, like the things that come in a hotwheel set? That would be nice.

And yeah, the double jump, failing all else, would work.

And Shadow should be a bit faster than Sonic, following Sonic Battle physics.

This sounds like something that'll get me to replay it atleast three times, a good plan for an already great looking hack to make replayability. As for Shadow, I think that he should have some ability related to his jet boots, such as maybe a half a second float time when running off a ledge, or perhaps gravity while running is totally negated or highly lowered, not forcing you into a ball, allowing you to make a jump or run past close together platforms before you fall below them. One way to restrict a power like that would be to give him worse handling along with the slight speed edge against Sonic, as well as perhaps requiring rings to enhance the effect.

Well, for Shadow, all I can think of is higher speed or jumping abilities.
Perhaps you could use something with Chaos Control, if possible?

Yes, it's very possible. I'm the best in the community at it, so if you need help with it just come to me.

Shadow's ability needs to be sensble, people. I may consider floating with rocket shoes, but I'm not sure yet.

As for level mods... Here's some concept art of Azure Lake in Sonic 1. To replace Green Hill.

That would break the Sonic tile tradition! Do you want the great gods known as the original Sonic Team to reign fire and lightning on us!?!

Seriously, Sonic games tend to look better if you have a simple, repetitive pattern going in the tiles. It's a lot easier on the eyes. Also, for the sake of quelling possible complaints, I just thought I'd toss in that Tweaker wasn't bragging about his abilities to edit music being that good. He really is one of the best I've seen, although I say that without having ever met Saxman. =P

And I don't feel that a double jump would be unfair. At least, not so if Mighty's getting gliding...

But I'm whining now. So maybe Shadow should get something else. Just make sure I sugest it! XD

Whenever I finish what I'm working on. At the moment work has kinda paused on this, but I'll get back to it later.

The whole Sonic/Miles thing is just a trend. I may ditch that options screen in favor of a custom one in the future, but if not I may consider changing the BG mappings to allow for something more interesting. =P
