Today I realized I'm almost out of memory. I've decided to add a hardrive and was looking for sugestions. I'm on a budget and would prefer external, though they seem to be grossly overpriced. Suggestions?

I'd would get the basic internal memory chip an stick it in there. If you don't know what you doing when it come to the insides of your computer, them maybe you should get with the external.

You can make your own external harddrive out of a regular sata hdd. I think thinkgeek.com has something along those lines.

Ad btw, you are out of space, not memory

Um...there is a difference between Memory and HD space. I'm going to assume you are running out of HD space because you said you wanted an HD.

The type of HD you want depends on how you are going to be using the HD. If you are going to be using the HD as a backup of your stuff as in "I want backup copy but I'm not going to use it as a main drive", then external is a good choice. Otherwise, you ALWAYS want internal. External drives are ridiculously slow, even with a Firewire/IEEE.1394 or USB connection between the drive and the computer. Therefore, your choice should be an internal HD if you are going to be using it has a main drive. Oh, by main drive I mean you are going to read and save data off of it constantly.

There are good HD deals out there. 250GB right now run less than $75

Yeah, my bad on the memory/HD crap. I'd prefer external because my computer is a bitch to open, because of the repair work done after a house fire. I mainly need it for media storage. Thanks for the help.
