haven't we done this before?

Again, the free space is dropping rather rapidly; no explanationf or it.

Mouse (owner of the server) deleted some logs when it hit 1.5GB after I told him about it, bringing it back to 3.5, but it's just started falling again... and it's not the logs, it'd been doing it for a while.

It's down to 2 GB as I post this, and falling still pretty fast... hence the image at the top. When I see MouseJstr again, I'm going to bring it back up since it's obviously not fixed yet. Hopefully he'll be there and get it fixed, otherwise we'll have some serious problems soon.

Well, that also explains the bar in your layout at the moment.

Hmm... well, I hope you get it all sorted out

Check the cache or the temporary storage space or something along those lines. Perhaps a value or something else isn't being cleared correctly, or the temporary files aren't being deleted, and thus, the temporary files are rapidly piling up. I remember this happened with a program called Zelda Classic in one version, this might be the case here.

Yep, heh... but I put that in a long time ago when I had just made the script (and we had roughly 5.6 GB free, stable)...

Now it's back for worse reasons

Something's wrong, alright. It's at negative 19.9%!

And what bad things... well, if the disk is full, there'll be no room for new posts/threads/users/PMs/stats that get logged all the time. Meaning kaboom. Older, crappier-coded versions of the board would get wiped out if you tried to edit a post with too little free space, but hopefully that sort of thing won't happen on this version.

[edit] Oh, and the OC board didn't really die AFAIK... it moved because the server sucked. Though like I said, some older versions of the board did very bad things when low on space.

HH, now that IS a problem! Where's this post being stored?!

Anyways, I estimate we'll run out of space sometime today or tomorrow if nothing happens in the way of a fix.

-19.8%? Oh noes.

I'm willing to bet that Acmlm fucked up real good; more so than even Xkeeper suspected at first; during the coding of the board. Looking at it, I see that the old overclocked site lasted quite a while, and that topic is from near the start of the boards. Acmlm probably kept his battle against site space a secret so panic would not be unleashed. Just like the U.S. Government. However, eventually, the boards got too big for him to keep up with the closing storage gap, and one day...BOOM! But it doesn't matter. Whether this issue was the cause of the moving of the OC board, the OC board moved due to server issues, or Acmlm moved the OC board and started over as a cover-up for the tightening space gap, this needs to be fixed right now. I don't care if the boards have to be shut down until it is, but fix it before it's too late...

Yes, please.

If this was the reason for the overclocked board, and only xk kept t from being the reason for the newest archive board, then... *shudder*

Nah, Xk or the server admins probably tweaked something and caused problems in doing so.

Or someone hacked the server and is uploading warez onto it.

Sukasa: Everything on the board is stored in a MySQL database, which is basically just one big file (or possibly several files). MySQL should be able to handle running out of space, but adding anything to the database (posting, sending PMs, etc) will fail, and I can't say how well the board code will handle that.

Old versions of the board crashed (wiped the DB) because they didn't use MySQL; they used their own database format of sorts, and manually modified the file. The problem was they worked on a copy of the file, deleted the original, and replaced it with the copy... so if there wasn't enough space for a copy, it'd try to copy and fail, delete the original, and replace it with nothing. Of course, that method sucked for a number of reasons (slow, murder on server resources, hackish, to name a few), hence MySQL.

[edit] 3 posts popped in after the one I was replying to while I wrote this.

Technically, it was.. user error

However, this isn't

If you look closely, it's actually a small arrow pointing to it, not a -

And the older board would delete posts because there would be no room to copy posts.dat and posts.bak around, which this board doesn't use (and hasn't since Acmlmboard 1.0, or something)

Perhaps it had something to do with thebonuses? I sure as hell hope not.

BTW, I do work my MySQL at home, so I now how it works.

I wish you'd lose everything, just because you care too much about that crap...

I wouldn't really mind if there was another reset. It'd just suck to lose some threads...

There's your problem. When did you first notice this was happening, and what were the last significant changes you made to the boards before that time? Common sense tells you that odds are, that's what is causing this mess.
