| Well, I'm trying to get my PC in my room to work with a D-Link AirPlus Extreme-G DWL-G520 rev. B wireless card, and am trying to connect to a Linksys WRT-54GS router. for soem reason though, my DWL card cannot find the Linksys router. There's no security whatsoever on the router, as my mom's laptop would not work with it enabled, but my computer cannot access any networks at all.
What's wierd is that the card seems to work, I can access and change the settings on it no problem. Does anyone know if just buying a D-Link wireless adapter to plug into one of the Linksys router's wired ethernet ports will work? |

| a wireless adapter plugged into a wired port... why would you want to do that? I'm not sure if there is even stuff like that. I know you can convert a wired port to wireless but wireless to wired? it is possible, but not sure why don't you just buy a wired NIC and sell your wireless NIC | |||

| Well, because I want to make it so my computer can get wirless intenet and networking, but my wirelss card won't interact with the linksys router, so I am wondering if it would work with a D-Link access point hooked up to the router. | |||

| it could be the case you need to configure the router to let your wireless card see the router in terms of giving the router the MAC address of the wireless card. I recall a D-Link router having that capability.
As for what you want to do, it should work in theory but I think there is something in your router configuration that causes it to block any traffic coming from your wireless card. |

| Yeah.... I looked thorugh all the settings on the router, and every security option avaiable is turned off. It brodcasts the SSID of the networks, there is no WEP, and the laptop was able to cennect to the router when it was unknown, but the card just can't find any wireless networks here.
I tried a linksys card easrlier, but that just screwed up Winsock, and I wound up having to reinstall window after that. |
