New content for the grown and sexy.

Judgment Day is in the books, and here's the HOT NEWZ. Spoiler-tagged just because some people might be holding off for later, for their own reasons.

Spoiler:
* First off, we have new tag champs in London and Kendrick. Yaaaaaay.
* Post-match, Melina and Nitro turned on Mercury. Uh-oh. Melina also smote Teddy Long, which is relevant because...
* MNM is D-U-N DONE. Melina counted lights for Jillian Hall in what was allegedly a short match. Sources say Melina and Nitro tend to get wrapped up in each other, ignoring the rest of the boys. The other divas hate Melina, too, and the fight with Sharmell didn't help. Really, it's Melina who's most at fault, so to speak, and Nitro's along for the ride. Mercury wisely sat out.
* Mark Henry beat Angle.
* Helms retained over Super Crazy (I believe, not looking up the results now).
* The Great Khalito pinned Taker clean with a big boot. Dasnotcool.
* Chris Benoit beat Finlay in a match stiffer than me watching Salma Hayek-on-Angelina Jolie action. And that, as the kids say, dascool.
* Booker T is your sparkling new King of the Ring after beating Lashley with Finlayference. Lashley speared Booker in the throne afterwards, though.
* Rey-Rey retained over JBL, thanks to a Greco-Roman chairshot reversal (JBL had it, Mysterio kicked it in his face), San Diego Area Code, and a frogsplash. Chavo Guerrero Jr. was at ringside for Mysterio.

Apparently, it was a much better show than expected... which doesn't say a whole lot.

Not in the mood to use spoiler tags but you've been warned. Nothing too bad here anyways...

Regarding MNM... Mercury's pretty much innocent but he might be in career trouble since either one of three things happens:

- He gets a push to spite Mr. Hennigan and Ms. Perez;
- He ends up as a Velocity mainstay since they have no plans for him;
- He ends up in ECW because he WAS a former ECW wrestler, Joey Matthews.

First choice probably isn't happening, third choice is possible, second choice is probable. It's one of those cases where the guy didn't do anything wrong backstage but might be indirectly punished.

This, incidentally, is quite similar to Super Crazy and Psicosis distancing themselves from Juventud Guerrera before he got fired, because they didn't want to get associated with Juvy's... craziness. The plan worked. Nitro/Melina likely AREN'T getting fired but they may be suspended.

UPDATE: Nitro and Melina are going to be moved to RAW. Not sure when.

Rey was originally supposed to drop the title to JBL but the plan was changed during the week. Chavo was supposed to cost Rey the match but they're obviously going to build to something else now. Regardless, the second Rey loses that title he needs knee surgery, so it could happen anytime.

And finally... Khali/Taker apparently WASN'T AS BAD as Taker/Giant Gonzalez. It still sucked but apparently didn't fall into the -***** range. You know it was a decent PPV when Khali didn't suck everyone into that black hole.

Oooh, more HOT NEWZ!

* Eee Cee Dub, I'm sure we've all heard, is going to be on that bastion of hardcore... Sci-Fi. Yeeeeah. And taped before Smackdown. ... ... ... ! The last is because they'll at least bother to get the aesthetics right, including a separate set which they can change before Smackdown, and more appropriate lighting.

* Randy Orton's on schedule to return when they're in Trenton.

* Speaking of Raw, tonight we're getting matches for One Night Stand that just about everyone saw coming. Oh, and the appearance of a certain former agent of a former NFL hopeful.

I haven't heard it as a given that it'll be taped before Smackdown. Probably at first but that's no good because even if it's only for a few weeks, Velocity (if it exists) becomes a recap show and some people are gonna lose jobs. They could end up doing it like old ECW with random tapings since the brand is going to be on the road, but Vince doesn't want to add an extra day of taping. *rolls eyes*

Orton is likely NOT returning in Trenton by the way. The 60-day suspension was a minimum and there's no indication he's coming back anytime soon.

Lawler went off on WWE Unlimited about ECW, pulling out the 1997 "Extremely Crappy Wrestling" line. And if it ends up being like 1997, we're going to get Lawler vs. Tommy Dreamer out of it. Be afraid.

Well, we know the immediate (read: Smackdown spoiler) answer to that query:

Spoiler:
Mercury sticks around, informs Kendon that he has no beef with them, as they won the straps fair and square. So he gets a non-title match against them, teaming up with the dread Partner Of His Choosing. I CHOOSE YOU, MATT HARDY! And hands are shaken after the match.

Do we need to keep the PPV result under spoilers?

ECW - June 13th on Sci-Fi in the United States, TBA in Canada. (Well, if it's not in Canada then I feel no moral problems in downloading it.)

Yes. Because I don't feel like unspoilering.

BREAKING NEWS: WWE has released a former United States champion and Smackdown superstar. No word on how Smackdown will recover from such a devastating blow.

I thought you'd WANT extra bodies around with a third brand.

New RAW GM to (finally) be announced this week. Place your bets.

Unrelated to "current" WWE per se, but as you can see from the thread title, John "Earthquake" Tenta has passed away from cancer.

R.I.P. big man. In related news, fuck cancer of all kinds (And I think I'm more qualified than arguably anyone here to say this).

(fucks cancer)

Didn't he look like he had it beat, then it came back with a vengeance? He'd been going at it for a while.

Surprised ESPN picked up the story, but he wrestled at LSU back in the 80's. Vaya con dios, Quake. Up there, all the Damien-Burgers you can eat.

...Ew. You did THAT to cancer?

I think some media outlets might pick this one up because he was a nice guy AND it's actually not a death related to drugs or steroids. And I *think* that Tenta was pretty clean on that front during his career.

Yeah, there's a post somewhere on Wrestlecrap where he mentions that his was a natural strength. Take that as you will.

But ESPN.com actually picked up the AP story thanks to his days wrestling at LSU.

You guys should check WWE on Wikipedia. They have all the good inforamtion and ECW's One last Stand.

Rumor that RVD will defend his WWE Title to Edge on Vengence.

One NIGHT Stand. Ye gods, you looked it up, didn't you?

Or I could just go to the tape for info, seeing as... well, I ORDERED IT. It wasn't as good as last year, but it wasn't supposed to be the same kind of show. The biggest letdown was the Balls Mahoney/Masato Tanaka match, but it wasn't bad. It just didn't live up to Tanaka's match last year... but what could?

As for RVD, well, I don't see him hanging on to the title for very long. WWE World Championship, not the ECW strap. He's got to legitimize that. If he makes it to Vengeance (which I'm sure he will) he's losing. Unless Edge jumps too, in which case, well, I have no idea what they'd be doing.

I have a confession to make.

I downloaded ECW from last night.

No, wait, scratch that...

I really, REALLY regret downloading ECW last night. That's the worst WWE show I've seen in years, and there's been some CRAP over the past few years too.

As others at the Wrestlecrap board have already mentioned, if you really thought this "New ECW" was going to be anything like the old ECW, you had another thing coming. Apparently it did relatively strong ratings too (A 2.7 or something like that, which is damn good for, you know, a WRESTLING show on the SCI-FI Network), meaning we can fully expect to see future episodes crafted in its mold.

Unrelated, I'm still upset that the mighty Earthquake is dead.

Another thing to point out: they're building a touring brand from, essentially, nothing. Who are their draws? RVD, maybe Sandman and Sabu. The biggest ticket is the name of ECW. So there's probably going to be some crap, obviously, and some awkwardness (get them away from the Smackdown tapings NOW) but it's a decent start, all things considered.

I didn't expect New ECW to be like Old ECW. I expected it to be a fun (if not decent) show. They couldn't even deliver THAT.

I want to see what the house show lineups look like. Might as well raid OVW.
