So lets see. In the past 48 hours, I've gotten this hiccups at least 8 different times. I get them when I haven't eaten/drank anything, when I'm just sitting at the comp doing nothing. And they're hard to get rid of, too. And I have no idea why I've gotten them so many times.

Anyone else get the hiccups a lot? How often do you get them? Anyone have a mindblowing record for how long they have had them?

All I can say is they're extremely embarrassing if you get them at school during a test, or somewhere else where it's supposed to be quiet.

Uh, I barely get hiccups at ALL. But when I do get them, I try to hold my breath as long as possible.

That helps sometimes.

I don't get them that often, but when I do, it usually lasts for a pretty long time. Had them for almost two days one time. I went to bed at night thinking they'd be gone by the morning, but sure enough, they returned when I left for school

They're too hard to get rid of. Drinking water, holding your breath, getting scared, etc... none of it works. Not for me anyway.

I get Hiccups at times. When I suck in too much air or try to breath in while laughing or eating.

Holding my breath works for me. Drinking water doesn't.Makes it worst.

The longest I have had them was maybe a day, way back when.

Sometimes I just get hiccups for no apparent reason, although it's usually after drinking water.

I just hold my breath as long as possible, let it out, and repeat until they go away.

Just try to burp it out. It's merely air trapped in your esophagus.

I can go weeks and weeks without hiccups, and then other times I'll get them all day every day. It gets to be painful.

How dare you. They are called "hiccups". They are not cool enough to have the title of the hiccups.

Really, I'm just saying that because one time, I had them for four hours. Sometimes, I can get rid of them by gulping down a lot of soda right after a hiccup, and bleching as hard as I can. But not that one time.

Well, I find if I manage to resolve an episode of the hiccups, I'll get it again later in the day....

I usually manage to get rid of it by taking in a big breath... almost as much air as I can take in, and then holding it... then I swallow three times, but very slowly, with about 5 seconds in between each swallow...

Usually gets rid of it for me, with a very high success rate. But as I said, I might get another attack a few hours later.

I haven't had hiccups in awhile but when I do, I just hold my breath until they go away. Sometimes it won't take long to go away and at other times it may take over a hour or longer to get rid of. I usually get hiccups after seeing a movie, maybe because I drink too much during the movie.

I've tried that, it used to work for me. But not so much anymore.
It seems like nothing works now but just sitting here like a loser hiccuping until they just go away. :'(

I usually get them if I eat too fast (this is generally common) but I can usually surpress the reflex long enough to get a glass of water before they start going nuts on me...and if they do, it usually doesn't last more than two or three of them.

Oh where are those C&H strips of Calvin getting them when you need it...

*hiccup*

...

I'm surprised someone didn't do that yet.

Every once in a while, when I eat to fast or get in a rush, or hell, just when I don't chew my bread enough.

Hmm, maybe I should try that the next time I get hiccups.

Might be fun to try new ways to get rid of it.

So like. This is reminding me.

I get hiccups damned near every time I eat white rice. It doesn't make any sense
