I've been messing with FCEUXD (SP 1.06 to be precise, but I don't guess it matters) and tried to create a stripped ROM of just the Zelda 2 title screen, with the sword and scrolling introduction. I allowed the Code/Data Logger to log as much as it could, and made sure to hit power and reset during the logging, but when I create the stripped ROM and load it, it only loads a grey screen and does nothing else. Although at first I was just playing around, now this bugs me because I obviously don't understand exactly how this feature works.
Could someone explain what else I need to do, if I want to create a *working* stripped NES ROM? Are they even supposed to run right after you create them, without any further modification? |

Posting this for bbit:
[18:47] bbitmaster: http://board.acmlm.org/thread.php?id=1295 <- funny... that's covered in the readme [18:48] MathOnNapkins: want me to tell him? [18:48] bbitmaster: 3. If the game has Save-RAM (e.g. Zelda), you will need to capture the game's Save-RAM initialization routines; [18:48] bbitmaster: you can try to do so by deleting the game's *.sav file and then perform a soft and hard reset (F10, F11) again while logging. [18:48] MathOnNapkins: or are you registered there [18:49] bbitmaster: if you want... I'm not registered at acmlm Have fun. |

Ah, okay. Thought I'd caught the save-ram routines, but I guess I hadn't. Finally got them tho' and it works. Thanks for the help. |
