The good part about no backwards scrolling is that you can do multiple paths and stuff.

I didn't edit it, I completely redid it. There is no hit detection data at all. Tile #00 is the only tile that you can go through, all other tiles are considered solid (except invisible coin blocks and 1Up Blocks).

Of course I will, but it's still in its early stages. I will probably build a custom editor for this hack to streamline the project. For now, more screens!

Hm, you know, the idea someone mentioned about having a Goonies-2 like game sounds cool... perhaps you could combine it with traditional Mario and go the Kid Icarus route, with maze-like Castles and normal levels?
