Yeah. Xk has the brackets somewhere, but I'm gonna see if I remember the current matchups...

Winners:

Hiryuu vs. Zidane

Loser's:

Tamarin vs. Ailure

Xk vs. (Waiting on above)

(Can a mod sticky this? I'm powerless at the moment, and I might be gone this weekend.)

I'm not expecting to. But I do have a reward in mind if we do finish. See, BMF has already finished SMO, and secretly gave me a copy. If we get it finished before January 1st, I'll send it to you.

Of course you know, I'm lying about that. He's never gonna finish.

Just that question to you Tetris Attack masters (since I got out early), concerning Pokemon Puzzle Leagues VS. com-mode where you fight all the important character from the series (I assume - "Erika" sounds German; didn't watch Pokemon at all ):

I got through V-Hard (meaning the fourth of five difficulty levels) without continue now. The 16th enemy truly was a pain in the ass to beat his lights out - it took five minutes for me. I got down from two to zero continues with this ...

Since a longer time I'm gnawing on the S-Hard Mode, already Richie (12th enemy) punches my lights out relatively quickly since the CPU knows to garbage-chain, unlike in TA and already sends major blocks after some seconds. The CPU level goes up to 10, in PDP/TA it was only seven, and the major bugs of it, like chaining further x13, (what results in x? and is useless) seem to be cleared out.

Hiryuu and all other ones: Did you beat the S-Hard mode without continue anyway ?
I have to agree to Hiryuu on the old new board where he said, the CPU is about 10 times harder than in Panel De Pon.

Hmm... I've been practicing in Tetris Attack lately. Winning in under 20 seconds against the Very Hard computer in Vs. mode is fun. And I can somewhat reliably get a x5-x7 right off the bat.

But Endless takes me as long as it always has. =/

I have beaten PPL on S-Hard without continuing only twice. Yes, it is at least 10 times harder than PdP/TA in the difficulty, and yes, the computer can garbage-chain, but yes, it is beatable.

The biggest problem I had at first was running out of panels. It's all too easy to get oneself squashed under a stack of garbage with one or two rows of panels below and no way to clear them. Something that I tried that helped immensely was eliminating unnecessary combos and extra chains when garbage-chaining. Instead of getting a [x2][9], get just a [x2][6] or even just a [x2] and save extra matches for when you might need them. You really don't know how frustrating the game is until you lose on Stage 16 because you wasted all your excess panels.

In summary:
I have done it, but it's tough. The biggest tip I can give is to always keep three or four or six panels available to restart the garbage chain if you miss a link or don't get the correct panels to keep it going.

Uh, yea...I've done it...dozens upon dozens of times on the keyboard even. That's probably why my tactics are what they are now. I kinda have something relatively close to Dragonite's tech in PPC on Insane. Doesn't go flat out for the highest chain but rather sends several rather high level (but not necessarily x13) chains fast. I just rely on speed a ton. :\

EDIT: To see what I mean, go get Pokemon Puzzle Challenge for the GBC. It's an easy to find ROM and it should prove to be a good tool to strengthen your skills even more (ESPECIALLY in Insane mode). I bought that outright back in the day but it's still a good ROM. I'd like to see someone at least beat S. Hard (which is second to last with Insane being hardest) against Dragonite. Those who want me should try Dragonite on Insane on VS. That's practically what I am.

EDIT 2: Okay, just did a run of that game on Intense no continue for the first time in a FUCKING long while. Didn't do so hot in terms of time but I did do it no continue (though I was close to dying a few times, one time it was really close). Dragonite I killed in 2:22. Jynx, however, was a fucking pain in the ass and it took until 6:53 to kill her. Anyways, I figure those that are reading these edits might be interested in playing Dragonite on Intense. If you want to get your ass kicked, head on over here and load state 5 (F5 in VBA) with the ROM after extracting. Attack fast or get buried.

I tried it and had no major problems on S-Hard in PPC

I got through it without continue, but the freshly unlocked "Intense" difficulty level is giving me nightmares ...
I also think you have little more of last respite after you touch the top.

In Panel De Pon for SNES (I mean the japanese version specifically) it seems almost instantly in V-Hard while you have more time in Tetris Attack, PPL or PPC.

PPL and PPC are way harder than PDP/TA, but offer you a slightly more time to survive if you touch the top in the harder modes.

Yea, you ought to try beating Dragonite in that save of mine.

By the by, pushing Select+A is a code you should remember well in that game. Go to the options and records and use it. If you want to try playing Endless and getting up to 6 digit scores, set Score Col: to 6.

By the by, that no continue run was 38'34".

I lost once in S-Hard due to chaining away all of my blocks it was still rediculously easy.

Intense sounds... intense. *shot*

Not that I haven't forgotten about it...but I think the whole thing died right around the time the board died.

It was headed for doom anyways. :\
