Ehh, I use a really dull, really boring wallpaper that came with windows, called Metal Links or something. I always leave things maximized, so it's not like I really care...

I haven't heard of Starfish or Digital Blasphemy before, though. I might check those out.

This is what my desktop looks like.
A black wallpaper with the word "Hacker's Desktop"
Such a basic crappy background

Yeah! And also, my desktop has full of icons.
I like the way it is, many icons on the desktop.

Yesterday, my friend drag all icons from start menu into desktop (in his user account)
As I help him making many icons on the desktop, I finally copy all icons and duplicate them, costing 47mb of disk space for this crappy desktop, finally, 1616 icons was placed on the desktop.
After that, we click at the desktop, press ctrl+a to select all icons...
And press.... Enter!!
It said "Opening 1616 programs at once may ...." I just press yes, and you know what will follow...
It was really fun!

Does anyone has more icons than this?

See this picture? Currently, my desktop wallpaper is set to the bottom-left one. Full size though, it's a full screen wallpaper, at 1280x1024 resolution, so it's obviously a lot bigger than it looks there

Most of the time I use wallpapers similar to that (not necessarily landscapes, but rather things that take up the full screen as opposed to tiling), and seeing as I've got no wallpapers that are meant to tile in the ~100MB folder of them (yes, there's that many), I don't give myself much of a choice

This one looks to have you beat That is not my desktop though. It's just something I found through a google image search.

My desktop is by no means clean in terms of the amount of icons on it, but they're spread around. Folders are in the top-right and along the right hand edge of the desktop, My Computer, My Documents, and Recycle Bin are in the top-left, one NES ROM is along the left hand side, with eight zip files below, and there's currently nothing in the bottom left. In the middle of the desktop, there are some folders that I use to sort stuff I download while I'm here during the day, so that I can more easily move them to the proper folders on the computer (mostly for ROMs and such), as well as a text file called "Stuff to Get". It's there for one reason. So my brother can list stuff he wants me to look for (such as a certain song, or a walkthrough for a game), without having to tell me directly. There's only one other thing I didn't list. Rainlendar (a calendar program) is in the top-right corner.

It's by no means anything special, but provided that this thread hasn't fallen too far down the list tomorrow, I'll post an acutal screenshot of it

Edit: I voted for "Generic pretty-design fullscreen wallpaper"

Eh, made myself a new Background last night... If it's a bit dark, you'd jsut need to turn up you monitor's brightness for a bit to see it properly.

Using too many icons is bad because it makes you suffer horridly from inelegance. You want to see a good, elegant desktop? Look at mine. Very few things on it.

Eh, my changes all the time... I arrange the icons according to the background I have at the time.

I had a picture that I drew as the background for about two days (a little bit of it is my avatar) and got bored of it, so I switched it over to this. I got it from deviantART and thought it was cool. I have one from the same person that is of Master Cheif shooting at the Covenant. Nice pictures.

And all those icons? I use all of them except the two that aren't shortcuts. I still need to put them somewhere...

Nice. I have 5 icons on my desktop:

My computer
Network Neighborhood
Recycle Bin
My Documents and
Internet Explorer.

I keep all the useful stuff available in my taskbar, which has to be 3 rows high to contain it all.

I only use my taskbar to switch programs. I've tried using Quick Launch and multiple rows... but it just looks absolutely horrid with XP. =\

Now i'm using this. It's resized there though. I always like using old games wallpapers, or wallpapers from anime that has finished to release episodes. I'm not the kind of putting a wallpaper to the newest thing released.

My mom doesn't even care.

Probably those little blue bands or whatever covering her, actually.
Besides, I know how to encrypt anything should she start snooping around my HD for some reason. (Not like there's anythign to hide except personal docs, but still. )
