Shadow: "All right... finished."

It was a simple arena, a perfect circle with stands. This place wasn't fitting for the battle about to take place, but the battle itself would out-shine any arena.

Shadow: "Let's see what you can do Grey."

A great chill came across the land, as the simple arena was filled with the ghostly cheering of dozens of battles of the past. The roof of the grand thunderdome opened to show a shining sun, which gave light to the not-so-simple anymore arena, glittering gold turrets and silver stadium seating abound. From the clouds, as the Pokemon Gym Theme blasted loudly from the high-definition sound system (complete with bass boost), descended a young man, slacken, strong, powerful, with great golden armor adorning him and brilliant baubles lining his steely shrouds.

He slowly, cinematically floated down to the ground, as the ghostly cheering grew louder and louder, and the spirits of the dead warriors of the past inhabited the arena, the bounds of death no longer surrounding them.

The moment his feet touched the ground, everything returned to normal, the golden armor disappeared, the ghosts disappeared, the sunroof disappeared, the sound system disappeared (), and in its place was a shortish guy in a red Toys 'R' Us shirt. His nametag said "Thomas: Delighting guests since
2005", but the secondary nametag below said "Grey". Also, something he couldn't quite read in spanish, but something he also knew was on the backside of the tag in english. He didn't really worry too hard about it.

Tom: "That good enough?"

Shadow: "Yeah, it works... Now, you shall see how my power unfolds though."

Shadow seemed to stay still on the ground, but shadows grew longer everywhere, including Tom's.

Shadow :"You know I'd never show my true power at the begining."

Then, all light disappeared, and only darkness remained.

Shadow: "Crushing Darkness!"

The darkness became heavy, incredibly heavy, crushing heavy. Any fear, or doubt, in someones mind would make it much worse, panic would envelope them.

Shadow: "Attack the body is a waste... attacking the mind of one with so many doubts is easier."

Tom: "Logic Bomb!!!"

He took a good, long look at the shadows and noticed that they were most definitely very dark. Unnaturally so. Still...

"Aw, man, this is just making me more sure I'm gonna win. Look at you, this is a totally generic fear attack. Hell, I could just use Will of the Forsaken or some bullshit attack like that and say LOLIRESISTURFEAR, but I don't even need to, since I'm not exactly afraid. Hrm, Loli Resist... I gotta tell knuck about that one."

And then he lost it.

"Oh, but what if I lose? That'd---"

BAM! He was instantly knocked flat by the sheer weight of the emotional baggage and reduced to a crying pile of hate and embittered immaturity, curled up in a little sissy-man ball on the floor.

Grey: "Aw, man, you killed Thomas!"

A clone of Tom appeared behind Shadow Sam, or... around, or something... And grimaced.

"Man, that's such a bitch move, attacking his weak point directly like that. Look, what you really gotta do here is..."

It didn't quite seem like it, but from Somewhere Shadow Sam would probably, if he listened juuuuuuust right, hear someone calling, in the traditional epic style, Guiding Light!!! throughout the arena.

"...Toy with him. If you do that, then certainly you'll drive him even more insane, and then he'll end up suffering just that much. It's tricky, but it's most definitely possible. Believe me, I know."

Instantly, the shadows disappeared and stopped enveloping Thomas, as Grey winked and flashed back into Tom's mind. The prostrate body of Thomas got back up and stared the shadow down as best as he could.

Thomas: "There's a little more to me than just doubt and misery, as I'm sure you can see there, Sam. I'll give you one more try..."

Shadow "You're right... but that is my only effective attack on this plane... I'll have to change over..."

]Shadow began rising out of the ground and a black mass appeared. A new face came from it, the face of Lotus. His voice was much darker and deeper, and he commanded much more power in it.

Lotus: "Dark Lotus Reality!"

Lotus started to glow, and he eventually shined so bright that he vanished. There was a wind and out of the sky a figure started to fall. A long trench coat trailed behind the figure, and when it hit the ground, it hit it hard, yet it seemed to have no effect.

Samuel: "Yo. I was hoping to save myself till later, but I guess I'll just have to bring out my huge bag of tricks early."

Samuel held out a blade that Tom couldn't see. His trench coat almost touched the ground and more or less hid his body, long hair covered all of his face, and his eyes were covered.

Samuel: "Roaring Dragon Strike!"

Samuel swung the blade upwards and a hurricane force wind came with it, a dragon of pure rock burst from the ground, and Samuel was already flying over to intercept Tom if he was hit by both with a massively powerful slash.

Samuel: "Have fun with this. Logic bomb won't work."

Samuel was already on his way to his next attack, his logic bomb cancler that would hopefully stun Tom into a big "what the fuck?" mentality.

Samuel: "Dragon Reign!"

Dragons of all types, shapes, and forms appeared from the skies, lakes, seas, and the earth. A mighty wind dragon flew under Samuel, who landed on it gracefully still holding the invisible sword. It wasn't quite over yet though, Samuel hadn't even started on his special abilities yet, these dragons and dragon attacks were just hobbies.

Samuel: "You better be able to put up a fight, if I'm wasting time, I won't be happy."

Tom: "Hobbies? Huh, well, while we're getting into that..."

The split remains of the rock dragon lay at Tom's sides, having been blasted apart by a deceptively defensive duster. The slash hit thin air, as Tom wavered in and out of existence for a few seconds, taking advantage of his self-doubt in a way that really brought the "what if?" mentality to a head.

"....I got a few, myself."

Several very, very, very shiny giant robots appeared around him, big-as-life models of the Gundam robots he idolized so much. And a little chibi Mercurius that stood next to him alongside a chibi Deathscythe Hell.

"I've got a bit of a thing for Deathscythe, of course... Lookie! I even have a japanese snap-together model of it that I got at Disneyworld when I was in middle school! See?"

The frighteningly efficient black robot loomed high above the others, a large thermal energy weapon lodged in its hands and its black wings spread with fury. It certainly looked imposing.

"Ah, but that won't really do me much good against all these dragons, now will it? Too bad I sold about 90% of my Magic Cards too, back when I was with my ex. Otherwise we'd have a REAL rumble. Well, can't be helped."

Tom snapped his fingers, and the giant robots disappeared in a puff of smoke. He grinned wildly, and the look on his face was... well, for lack of a better word, kinda creepy.

"Caffeine Rush!!!"

He whipped out a can of Mountain Dew, chugged it, and disappeared again, reappearing in the air, just a few inches above the fur of the Wind Dragon Sam stood upon. He floated there for a splitsecond before attempting to jack Sam in the face with a #10 Wood Titanium Shaft Driver (the kind the pros use)!

"Fore!"

Samuel blocked the golf club... with his foot.

Samuel: "Please, golf?"

Samuel jumped back and a football appeared on the dragon's back. He kicked it as hard as he could right at Tom, and followed with his own fun attack.

Samuel: "Ragnarok!"

The sky grew dark and the earth turned red. All the dragons turned to skeletons, although they still moved. The sun practically disappeared as Samuel charged forward. He released the attack with a punch at Tom, the energy of Ragnarok exploded all around, its massive power seemingly easy for Samuel to use.

Samuel: "Still at hobbies."

Tom: "Narcissistic Personality Disorder, with a touch of... Addictive Personality Disorder? I dunno, you've got a lot of repressed anger here, too..."

The skies were actually quite blue and clear, and the sun was shining down warmly and happily on Tom and Sam as Tom sat in a very comfortable-looking armchair, and Sam found himself stretched out on a long couch. Tom faced away from Sam, and looked around a bit. Yep, all those dragons were gone. Easy as pie. Tom scribbled a bit of nonsense into his notebook, and pretended he was a psychologist for a few more seconds before snapping his fingers and having the couch explode underneath Sam.

"Whoopsie! Guess those violent tendencies get to me every once in a while."

Samuel was... dumbstuck... Such a cowardly defence, he should've expected this. Of course, his counter to a situation like this was already thought out, and very well done.

Samuel: "Tons of things wrong Tom."

Samuel did a ninja flip up, landing past the bed/couch thing.

Samuel: "First, I face all my problems head on."

The area began to disappear.

Samuel: "Second, I know all my bad qualities more so than anyone else."

The air currents began to swirl around Samuel.

Samuel: "Third, I only accept help when I need it."

The sword in Samuel's hand appeared, it was long, graceful, and extremely shiny. It transcended a beauty of words.

Samuel: "Fourth, I control every action I do."

Samuel held the sword above him in the air as the winds started to swirl around faster.

Samuel: "And fifth, I don't doubt myself when it really gets to it. I've solved all my problems and I am exactly who I want to be."

Samuel jumped into the air, very high into the air.

Samuel: "I won't underestimate you again."

All the colors appeared around Samuel, images appeared in them, from a perfect bliss to the ultimate depression.

Samuel: "Purgatory of Imagination!"

The images changed, telling stories, becoming different. Then white and black took over all the colors and a desolate world was laid out in front of Tom's eyes, a world of absolutes. Every action he made would either be defined as good or bad, and Samuel would take advantage of these actions.

Samuel: "Things are stale here, being creative won't help, the only answer is cold logic. There is a way to disspell it, but snapping your fingers won't work."

Tom: "Take no action, give no reaction... All I have is my thoughts and my arguments, eh? Well..."

Tom closed his eyes.

"One, if you faced all of your problems head on, you'd be dead by now. You've told me that you've had the opportunity to kill a man and you've faltered. What would have happened if you hadn't?"

Taking no action, Tom only stood and breathed as the images around him flickered.

"Two, that's a bald-faced lie and you know it. There is always a weakness in character among every person that they don't expect. In order to truly explore your weaknesses, you'd have to encounter millions more experiences than you already have. Don't set yourself up as matured when you're nothing more than a child still."

The air currents around him slowed, not yet stilling.

"Three's another lie. You'd accept help if you wanted it, because you can't hold your idealistic view all of the time. Your assertion that all actions to be taken must be in absolutes would contradict this, because in order for even a smidgeon of perfection to be achieved, man cannot do it alone."

The air slowed to a stop, and became still again.

"Four, if you controlled every action you made consciously, like I know you're asserting through the implication you're making, you'd forget your blood was pumping and drop on the spot."

Shadow Sam's arena blinked back into existence, and all that was left was Sam and his blade, and a grin spread across Tom's face.

"Five, there is never no doubt. Doubt is a subconscious human instinct, which further augments the assertion that you do not actually control all of your actions. Not only that, but the fact that you underestimated me and didn't bother to unleash your true power shows an inherent lack of confidence in your own abilities, because you felt the need to size me up first."

Grey opened his eyes, and thought was possible once again.

"Nice try, Sam. And just for good measure..."

Tom snapped his fingers, and Sam's blade was desummoned temporarily.

"Next?"

Samuel: "Again, assuming you're right."

Samuel held his hand in the air and the blade started to reappear.

Samuel: "One, killing him would've been a bad choice, so I didn't do it. I'm incapable of killing because there is always another way around, that I am sure of."

The blade reappeared completely.

Samuel: "Two, I never said I knew all of them, I just know more of them than what other people know of!"

The absolute deminsion started to reappear.

Samuel: "Pride, arrogance, greed, all qualities that I have. I only accept help when I need it. Even if the need is as small as making sure I'm right, or as complex as bringing my views into perspective. I don't borrow time from others when there is no need for it. I'm also not stupid enough to believe everything can be accomplished alone. This way of absolutes is a weakness, which is why I'm imposing it upon you, why would I give you a strength?"

It started to wave in completely and the air currents were back.

Samuel: "Action, action involves choice and behavior, something you do that effects the world. Something that defines who I am by how I do my actions. Simply stating I control such things is quite easy, you assuming I meant all my functions, is a mistake on your part."

Samuel seemed... to be gaining power.

Samuel: "Fifth, this just shows your uncertainty in your own mind. To go through an action without doubt is easy, just take your confidence and push it, know what you did, not think you know what you did."

Samuel didn't gain any power after that one, but he'd taken control over the field again.

Samuel: "I was certain you'd react how you did. It was predictable, with age, comes experience, with experience comes different views, with different views comes doubt, with doubt... you won't beat me."

Samuel pointed the sword straight into the air, the absolutes changed, more of the area was white, except Samuel, he was in full color, as was his energy. The sword was emiting a blueish white glow.

Samuel: "Maybe now, you understand why Dracoon can use such a powerful attack. Supreme Shot!"

Samuel pointed the sword at Tom, and the huge blueish white blast of energy started to consume his vision, this attack was of the same power, but didn't seem to damage anything but its target.

Samuel: "Control, skill, creativity, and honor is what is going to win this Sim-Battle, but please, ignore my Schwa-ish comment."

Tom: "Gotcha. Don't assume I'm right. Which would, of course, mean that I can't assume anything."

The Supreme Shot split in two at this statement, and curved around Tom as he defended himself with knowledge yet again.

"....Including that your attack hit. And I can't assume any of my logic will WORK in this dimension. And I can't assume that my creativity is worth anything here..."

He, in the short moment of clear world that was given before Sam sealed the world in absolutes again, pulled out a small boombox and was now holding it in his hands.

"...So I guess I'll just rely on someone else's."

He placed a CD in the box and hit play. A very large, nasally, booming voice echoed throughout the darkness.

" Hello, boys and girls. This is your old pal, Stinky Whizzleteats. This is a song about a whale. No! This is a song about being happy! That's right! It's the Happy Happy Joy Joy song!"

Tom just grinned evilly as the sky itself began to crack...

Samuel: "You can't even assume it didn't hit you know."

A electrict wave shot from the ground, trying to cling towards Tom in revenge. The sword quickly turned into a guitar and Samuel showed his knowledge and power of music.

Samuel: "Oh Link! He come to town! He come to save, the princess Zelda!~~"

It was a song vs a song, except Samuel's song lasted longer, and with a more amped up instrument then a boombox, he was drowing the Ren and Stempy Happy Happy Joy Joy song with ease.

Samuel: "~~I think your name shall go down into history!"

Samuel took his bow and brought all of Tom's effect to nothing.

Samuel: "You haven't even tried to make an attack yet. I tried to start this off interesting, yet you want to blow it with a "knowledge barrier", well in this match of wits, you've come unarmed."

The world shifted to darkness, obviously mentioning Ren and Stempy was considered bad. Chain's appeared on Samuel's pants and trench coat, his hair grew longer and he became taller.

Samuel: "If you can't guess who I'm mimicing, I suggest you give up now."

Tom: "I'm really not too keen on how to beat Death Metal..."

The lightning bolt had singed, burned, charred Tom into an unidentifiable corpse, covered in ash and soot and lying on the floor with absolutely no sign of life whatsoever. It didn't really stop him from talking, though. The burnt mess got up, dusting the ash off itself, and ripped its own skin off, as Tom stepped out of it nice and neat and clean. The shattered shell blew away in the dust and wind of Sam's serious assault, and Tom pushed his glasses up his nose, a sign that he was about to figure a way out of this mess.

"Go ahead, keep making fun of me. I dare you."

There was a soft sound, metal sliding against metal, as Tom drew out a thin, fine-edged saber and put it at his side. He stared at Samuel, and his eyes glowed a deep, eerie red color...

"If you can't guess who I'm mimicking, I suggest you give up now."

Samuel: "Heh..."

Samuel started to play a song, a very quick song. System of a Down - Sugar.

Samuel: "You should be able to figure out what this song does."

Samuel started to run forward at an extremely fast pace, disappearing, but as he warped through space, his pattern of travel made no sense, it was completely insane. It curved, arched, circled, all pointlessly for no reason. Then Samuel appeared above Tom and brought down his guitar for a mighty ax like strike that would shake the earth with its powers. It didn't go down though, it hit from the side although it appeared to go down, everything he did seemed to trigger as something different. Even as he flipped backwards, he appeared back in front and even when he wasn't moving his hand, the song still blazed loudly. Taking all other sounds away. The Purgatory of Imagination had completely disappeared at Samuel's will.

As Tom's eyes glowed red, he analyzed the sheer nonsense of Sam's attack pattern...

Tom: "Fake to five, parry three... I... I can see it!"

Lynn's voice echoed in his head...

---------------
Lynn: "The three Cs, Tom. Calm, Cool, Collected. Calm, Cool, Collected! Always focus and keep these three words in your mind."

Lynn's blade flashed forward, as she attempted a beat attack that turned into a fake to Tom's seven, knocking him off guard and causing him to stumble backwards and hit the ground. She STILL tapped his blade and grabbed the touch, even though he initially had right-of-way... She was good, very good.

Tom: "You're too fast, Lynn! I can't see you at all..."

Lynn: "That's not true, Tom, you're just not looking hard enough! Remember the most important rule of fencing!"

Her slender form backed away from him again, and they got into their respective guard positions...

"Now let's try it again."

This time Tom was ready for her. She tried a straightforward attack to four, which Tom quickly brought his blade to parry.

"Good!"

But she shifted her blade forward and slid around his parry, striking at his left rib.

"But you hesitated in your reposte. Don't do that! Never hesitate when you're sure."

Tom: "R-right..."

Lynn: "Once more..."

---------------

Tom brought his sabre upward and then neatly whipped it down to his side, parrying Sam's blow but knowing full well that it'd pierce straight through him if he didn't act. The moment Tom had right-of-way after touching Sam's guitar, he did.

Less than a tenth of a second later, Sam was swinging at nothing but air. There was a loud noise like a record scratching, and the music suddenly stopped. Tom stood behind Sam, facing away from him, his arm outstretched, still in followthrough formation from a bushido-like slash. His eyes stopped glowing red.

There was an antithesis to chaos -- control. Tom remembered his lessons. Alkaiser's theme began to play very softly in the background...

Tom: "Sam, you left yourself open the moment you started wailing on that guitar..."

He sheathed the blade and the music crescendoed.

"...Your lock on imagination left only logic to proceed, but you yourself didn't realize that I was being perfectly logical this entire time. It's senseless..."

He whirled around at Sam, and whipped out his trusty Yo-yo, shifting back to Grey form.

"The first rule a fencer must learn is to be calm, cool, and collected at all times, and to never strike unless he or she is one hundred percent sure that he or she will hit. With Kalar's analytical powers, Janus' sheer speed, and my own real-world knowledge of the rules of engagement, you didn't seriously think I was just duking around this entire time, did you? Everything is part of a bigger plan, Sam. The ONLY logical step I could have taken was to wait for an opening and strike when it was most likely that I'd hit you."

He glowed bright green, now that the Purgatory of Imagination was gone...

"It may not even have done any damage at all. You could really be that powerful. YOU, if you'll remember, taught me to never assume things. But if there's one thing I don't have any doubt about, it's that that last maneuver did exactly what I wanted it to do."

He grinned his usual grin, like he knew full well what he was doing.

"Keep it going, Sam. I'll show you just how unarmed I really am."

Tom didn't quite hit Samuel in any place he didn't want to be hit. Even at last seconds, he was able to act, and he blocked with his left hand.

Samuel: "Lack of style man... Lack of style..."

Samuel knew what Tom was doing now, he was combining his characters and not just using their attacks. Their skills and traits, it was kind of funny to him. He always knew that Tom's personality played a huge role in each of his characters, regardless if he wants to admit it. The same can be said about some of Samuel's, but not quite as lightly. Who was Samuel in the first place?

Samuel: "So. You thought and attacked, using the power of your characters, a smoother move than my own, that won because of my rash attacks. Did you ever wonder though, what exactly how I act in real life? What allows me to come up with my characters? What allows me to come up with my moves? I can say I've wondered about you. Talking with you these past months have shown a lot. Talking with you those two times have shown a little, but no one knows exactly who I am. I don't give out hints at what I think, single minded determination is a joke of mine really."

Samuel returned to his normal size, the chains fell off and the sword was back to normal.

Samuel: "Maybe this time, I will put effort into what I do, just to show you how capable I can choose to be... I doubt it though, I'm lazy."

Samuel stepped forward ten paces and turned around, his eyes closed, the sword out in front of him. He was blocking his senses of the world, his personality quirks, his identity. He didn't open his eyes, his inner self that was always thinking about something else, always listening to something else, was now awoken to the best it could. It was at this point in time that Samuel would be at the complete call of his first thoughts, his real thoughts, or what he considered his real thoughts.

Samuel: "This seems melodramatic I know. It is annoying to me, this isn't a plot device though. This isn't supposed to be some twist. This is the acknowledgement that I will try my very best, to humiliate you."

Samuel stopped speaking, he just looked forward, his hair hanging over him, his trench coat hiding him, all devices to hide himself.

Tom: "Ok."

At that point a large meteor slammed into the battlefield, exploding into razor-sharp shrapnel that flew everywhere. Tom just smiled as the shrapnel bounced off of a clearly-placed psychic shield. Anyone willing to take a gander at it before the massive explosion rocked the arena would realize that it was not actually an interstellar chunk of rock, but a very large, conveniently-dropped Xbox.

"Lol, Xbox is huge."
