Whatever happened to that team or person or whoever was making one for SMRPG? Also, was there anyother projects being made for SMRPG hacking?

Its in the works right now, but it hasnt seen much progress due to lack of time. Its back on tomorrow, cause thats when my exams end. It appears that 99% of the data has been located and documented, thanks to giangurgola who has been very patient with me and my busy life. Look for it in 2006.

As of right now, all that has been done is the basic structure of the program (ie, it loads files and such), and lots of design on how to implement features.

Right now, i have 5 snes projects in the works, Dark Prophecy being of the highest importance. Im 95% finish 2 of these 5 project, so expect releases of those in the next 2 weeks.

The only ones that are currently out are one that translates text, and one that changes shop prices/ enemies. But hopefully "The Big One" will be out soon, and by that I mean the "overall" editor. You know what I mean. All we can do is wait.

Well, actually, if people want to help out, they can have a look at the data, and program routines to edit certain aspects of the game. Now, i will probably have to modify the code for my specific editor, but it would definitly help expidite the process.

data: http://giangurgolo.home.att.net/smrpg/

Please only send me C/C++ code. THX.

How? We have so many games with much less memory and we have only scratched their data. This is a two megaybyte (i think) game and we almost have it all figured out? Super Mario World is a 1/2 meg game and we have very little figured out. Well I admire your dedication!

I never realized there was so much data for SMRPG.....thats a hell of a lot.

I would say an editor is highly possible.

OK... first of all, when was the last time you read the SMW forum? Second, I think he meant 99% of what data would be needed for this purpose. And third, SMRPG has been hacked because it's popular and rawks.

I guess I did overestimate that a bit. I know there is a lot covered in SMW, but there is still a lot more.

Alright, that's awesome. When a level editor does come out for SMRPG, I could work on my hack for Super Luigi RPG.

But I also have another question. Is it possible to have a sprite editor? The only way I've been doing sprite editing in SMRPG is using Tile Layer Pro. It's OK but I think it'd be easier if there was a program on which you select a name on the left and the sprite is shown on the right and you can load the palettes for that sprite or something.

Yeah, gfx editing is a feature that im thinking about, but its definitly not first on the priority list. You can probably expect a beta release that will only edit levels, text, stats, ect, and then later on a full release with other features like gfx editing.

I'm guessing this is going to be a Windows-only sort of thing. D: Any chance you'll release the source code under a BSD license or GPL or something when it's finished?

I think a lot of the rom editors out there could benefit heavily from a SourceForge page and some cross-platform support.
