| Reading the posts from the last couple of days got me thinking about the fact that I have the habit of being really annoying/obnoxious to my friends and family about their orchids.
Something about seeing a big plant in steady decline just makes me nuts, particularly when there is (usually) an easy fix. Case in point: my uncle had a lovely, huge Cymb from SBOE (don't know the variety, the tag got thrown out). He was (it seemed) interested in keeping it alive after it was done blooming, so I'd give him pointers when at his house. Many of these conversations were initiated by my saying something like "So...what's going on with that Cymbidium?". After almost 2 years of this (man, that baby was hanging on for dear life) he tells me it's dead. I could see that it wasn't, although, most of its backbulbs had died, it was covered with whitefly, it needed water badly, etc.. It actually had 2 new growths persevering despite all this. So, what did I do? I got in one little fight and my mom got scared, she said "you're moving with your auntie and uncle in Bel-Air"! I whistled for a cab and when it came near the license plate said "Fresh" and had dice in the mirror. If anything I could say that this cab was rare, but I thought nah, forget it, yo homes to bel-air! I pulled up to a house about seven or eight and I yelled to the cabbie Yo homes, smell you later! Looked at my kingdom I was finally there to sit on my throne as the prince of Bel-Air. |

| Hm. Seems a bit more messed up than I expected.
