Its me again, needing more help with HyruleMagic:
Long story short, I've been trying to completely reinvent Zelda3 using HyruleMagic. What I really want to do is to simply change the level layouts to fit my taste, as well as enemy types and positions, torches, and certain items found in pots (ei: hearts, arrows, etc.). My trouble comes from actually ADDING things; I can't save changes if there are more things in a room than there was when I started off (like two torches instead of one). This happens with torches, items of any kind, and (most annoyingly) enemies. How do I bypass this little problem? Also, is there anything I can do to make an enemy character stronger (defense and offense)? I guess that is already in the game permanently...

FYI, sorry if this is the wrong forum for this thread. I don't think the image hacking forum (it needing approval and all) is going to be too happy with me posting only weak threads, and I don't think its worth it to wait for approval just to post one thread and then never come back to the forum again. Again, sorry if this doesn't belong.

First off, this is a question about rom hacking. Threads like this are exactly what the rom hacking forum is there for. Which you already knew.

Posting rom hacking questions outside of the rom hacking forum because you don't feel like waiting for approval is a very good way to get on the forum staff's bad side.

That said, the object limit is probably a limitation of Hyrule Magic. The only way to get around it would be to learn how to design the levels in a hex editor.
Although, I've heard that someone was working on a new Zelda 3 editor, which probably wouldn't have that problem. But it'll also probably be a long time before said editor comes out. In other words, work with what you're given and be happy you've been given anything at all.

As for making enemies stronger, this would be a simple matter of finding where the enemy stats are stored in the ROM and tweaking them with a hex editor. For more information on how to do that, I suggest you apply for approval and ask in the right forum

The object limits in Zelda3 are based off the rom because Hyrule Magic reads from the it and is therefore limited by the space in rom for dungeons, items, torches etc.

To sort of fix this you would require removing objects from elsewhere in HM and then adding them into the room you want.

As for enemy health/defense I believe Euclid made an editor that did just that...but I can't seem to find it anywhere on the internet.

The utility used to edit enemy strength is called Hyrule Add-ons, by Elucid. I have it on hand, just email me, and I'll send it back to you. I'll probably post in on romhacking.net eventually, since it's not out there. Just write me via my email address noha420@rock.com
