it essentially has the same graphics as the gamecube (technically they're better but so far nod eveloper has shown it), and its softwar elineup basically consists of a bunch of mini games and a zelda game thats also available on the gamecube. On top of it the controller to me is uncomfortable and ackward to handle and its weird having to standup and sue two hands at the same time while tuiring yourself out. On the other hand the gamecube was just as innovative with the donka konga drum controller that they could have used more, as well as the original nintendo with the powerglove, and the ps2 with the eye toy. So whats the big deal about it? The virtual boy imo was more impressive and innovative.

Actually, the graphichs are better, if you compare TLOZ:TP GC version and Wii version.

The big deal? Hmmm. Maybe because no one has ever done it before? Maybe because the games which will come to it? Or maybe because it is cheaper than the others.

Virtual Boy was better? Now that's a knee slapper.

Have you even played anything besides Zelda? Which, in the end was 90% developed for the Gamecube anyways.

But in the end they changed the control system (suprise suprise) and did a major rework on the graphics.

But thats my opinion althought. I forgot to add one thing why it sells so good.
Its meant for M-U-L-T-I-P-L-A-Y-E-R-S. On the same machine.

All in all your arguement isn't really going anywhere TotenKopf.

Here's some stuff. Keep in mind its 3:00 AM here, and I'm not going to put a lot of effort into this.
- Its appealing to a very wide audience, adults, kids, whatever. Mainly because of its innovation (Wiimote) and stuff.
- Backward compatible with Gamecube games. Its been stated in articles GC game sales have gone up since the Wii launched. Maybe people didn't have a GC and are using a Wii to catch up with things? Either way, its a boost of Big N sales all around.
- Significantly cheaper than its competition (360 and PS3).
- Virtual Console. Enough said.

Then again I'm probably looking at your arguement with a different perspective, but oh well.

The controller does get a bit uncomfortable after several hours of Excite Truck, but that's about it. The only thing that really worries me is that there are already mod chips for it.

you guys do know that sega had motion sensivity technology in the works for the saturn right for the sequel to nights? thats hwo the 3d controller had some plug in the back of it. Also there was a pelican controller for the ps1 that was motion censored, and the pc has alot more innovative technology with the shutter glasses. Whats so innovative about an uncomfortable controller and a system that doesnt even have body motion censing unlike the eye toy.

Is there a point to this thread besides flamebait, TotenKopf?

Personally, I find the Wii to be quite fun. It offers gameplay that is not currently available on any other system, and gets a lot of people who would ordinarily not play games to join in.

The controller is quite effective -- previous similar things I've seen have been much buggier. And yes, not everyone will find it comfortable. There is probably not a controller in existence that everyone will find comfortable. I find it fine for most things, but it depends upon the motions performed a little too.

The games I've played so far have been good fun, and because Wii Sports is based on familiar motions, easy for people to pick up. This means everyone can (theoretically) play.

Just because these kinds of things don't appeal to you doesn't mean they don't appeal to other people. The Wii sells because it has features and gameplay that appeal to other people. For them, the mix of the games and control system work.

Perhaps the Eye Toy does not appeal to these same people because the games do not appeal to them or are no longer available? Who knows? Who are you though to argue and say that they are wrong?

He's either hired by Sony to piss us off or he's ignoring the large fact that we at this forum are very nintendo biased. And I agree Xeo's effortless post. The Wii is selling better because of invoation, fun, and newness. No only this but Sony screwed up the PS3's lauch by not shipping enough systems and not ironing out all of the system bugs. The Wii also has some bugs but they don't come up as much.

My mom and her man-friend LOVE my Wii.
And when we have family gatherings everyone wants to play. Same when I have friends over. Everyone can get into the action. Using the wiimote like you would a tennis racket or golf club or whatever is natural appeals to a lot of people. The controls tend to be pretty intuitive.

You don't have to be a 'gamer' to enjoy the Wii. And for sports game fans it's a dream come true.

The graphics might not be Gears of War, but uh... gameplay over graphics 4 evar?

The much lower price point doesn't hurt either, though they do kill you on the cost of all the different remotes, and the virtual console games are WAY more expensive than they should be.
