So I made this from whatever I had laying around the house. It's not much, and was a breeze after making a full maille shirt... but I thought it was a neat little project and if nothing else I figured out a good way to attach maille to leather and that twisted rings were kinda cool.

The part that took the longest was twisting all the wires that make the twisted rings. I did that all by hand.

[12:55] (Dr_Death16); I swear, the word drama needs to be stricken from the dictionary, for I've heard it so many times, it will permanently be imprinted on my brain

My friend John also made an entire shirt out of chain maille. And a helm and coif. And apparently a dice bag...

Wearing the chain shirt was hellish, the weight was forced entirely on the shoulders, but it was very well-fit and it felt nice after I got used to it.

Apparently he wears it almost constantly...

Yeah, I wore mine for about 8 hours straight at the Texas Ren-fest this last year (I finished it the night before.) I'd have been in lots of pain driving back home the next day if I hadn't gone out there with a friend in chiropractic school. I NEEDED the adjustment did afterward.

The first thing I did when I walked through the gates was buy a big thick-ass leather belt, which I then cinched tightly around the shirt. I pulled up a bit on the maille so some of the weight rested on the belt and not my shoulders.
