So I made this from whatever I had laying around the house. It's not much, and was a breeze after making a full maille shirt... but I thought it was a neat little project and if nothing else I figured out a good way to attach maille to leather and that twisted rings were kinda cool.
The part that took the longest was twisting all the wires that make the twisted rings. I did that all by hand. |

Schweiz oder etwas [12:55] (Dr_Death16); I swear, the word drama needs to be stricken from the dictionary, for I've heard it so many times, it will permanently be imprinted on my brain Since: 11-17-05 From: Kingston, Rhode Island Last post: 6285 days Last view: 6285 days |

My friend John also made an entire shirt out of chain maille. And a helm and coif. And apparently a dice bag...
Wearing the chain shirt was hellish, the weight was forced entirely on the shoulders, but it was very well-fit and it felt nice after I got used to it. Apparently he wears it almost constantly... |

Yeah, I wore mine for about 8 hours straight at the Texas Ren-fest this last year (I finished it the night before.) I'd have been in lots of pain driving back home the next day if I hadn't gone out there with a friend in chiropractic school. I NEEDED the adjustment did afterward.
The first thing I did when I walked through the gates was buy a big thick-ass leather belt, which I then cinched tightly around the shirt. I pulled up a bit on the maille so some of the weight rested on the belt and not my shoulders. |
