The only Target in my area isn't cool. It is easily beaten out by the Super Walmart. (take a regular Super Walmart and double the floorspace) Not to mention that Target charges 1.5x the walmart.

Xeogred: I was running late, and the kmart is slightly less out of the way than a Walmart, and there's no Target nearby (only several miles).

Yep, I agree.

I haven't been in a K-mart in about 10 years. There's one across the street from where I work, but I refuse to go to it (its the same one that I went to as a kid, heh...hehe).

And with Wal-Mart, it is trashy, but here, it is an odd mix of the poor, the middle, old people and Mexicans (well, with the Mexicans, its more so closer to where my dad lives in west Florida), so it feels a bit.....odd, when I have to go there.

I'd rather go to Super Target anyday, good thing I have at least two in the area.

There's a "Manor House Inn" in this town, and a few years back the lights for a few choice letters burned out. At night the sign appeared to read "Man Ho Inn". It stayed that way for a few months..

I've noticed a pattern here that people always procrastinate changing signs.

The Wal-Marts here are pretty nice, save the one in West Monroe... that one sucks now because they rearranged and the shelving setup makes it feel like a damn K-Mart.

There's only one K-Mart (a Big K) left in North Louisiana that I know of. It sucks lots.
Super Target is... too expensive. I don't like having to walk all the way to the back of the store for crappy toy and movie selection either. And I just don't like the way the place is decorated. Bleh on Target. The only thing good they have going for them is their pharmacy section, which I will admit pwns Wal-Mart. Neither of them have what I'd call a wonderful beer selection. Or meat or soda or what have you, so I usually do my grocery shopping at a REAL grocery store. Which has the added bonus of me not walking out with so much stuff I don't need.

Wal-mart is definitely better in this case.

A friend of mines "walked out" with quite a few too ...

Also, thought this was fitting for the topic.

The only thing I ever saw was when a gas station, Shell, had the S burn out on the sign, making it say 'hell'.

It's not as funny as this other stuff.

One of my friends who manages at the Wal-Mart here in town told me that they had almost $1 million in stolen merch last year, predominantly from employee theft.
That sounds a bit high to me, but maybe he wasn't exaggerating.

That is hilarious. I wish I had the guts to take revenge like that.

K-marts don't even exist where I live anymore. Today I waited in a line at a Wal-Mart Super Centre for literally half an hour because every line had at least 10 people in it. To make things even worse the cashier had to leave a few times because of some problems with products someone was purchasing .

We've got a Big K-Mart near my house (not to be confused with a Super K-Mart, which sells groceries too). It's always pretty busy, but nowhere near as busy as Wal-Mart. I won't go near that place unless I absolutely have to. There are far too many people and far too few cashiers.

Actually, I'm pretty sure every big chain store in America has a store 10 minutes from my house.

Self checkout = love, especially since I no longer bother buying my beer at Wal-Mart.

I haven't seen a K-Mart in years.

btw, something makes me doubt that those DVD+Rs were reasonably priced. Fry's ftw ($20 for 100 DVD+Rs; and Las Vegas Fry's has a casino-type thing for the entrance)

Like people scanning 2 DVD's over at once so one rings and both anti-theft devices are deactivated?

I'd be too scared it wouldn't work to try something like that. Besides, stealing things like that isn't worth the potential risk anyway.

But um... isn't there one person to every 4 self checkout lanes? At our Wal-Mart it is that way, and the person has a clear view of each lane. Maybe the attendants at your Wal-Mart were apathetic/lazy.

The fact that people actually believe that one department store is "cooler" than another just shows that marketing works.
