This is a serious matter, but someone may deem this thread more of a general topic. I was just wondering if anyone here has had laser eye correction or know someone who has. I am considering getting it done, but I don't know anyone who has had it done, so I don't have much real information. So if you had it done or know someone who has, did it come out ok? Are you happy with the results? I just want to know stuff like that.

My aunt had it done, and she absolutely loves it. I personally don't notice or mind my contacts and wouldn't spend the money to get the surgery done on my own eyes. But if you've done your research and feel it's worth it for you, go for it.

I know someone on these boards (I forget who and in what thread) mentioned something about laser eye surgery being bad/questionable. Whoever it was, I'd like to know why you feel that way, because I've had an offer from my dad to pay for one such procedure and the only things I've heard of that seems negative is:

-Ones eyes may still continue to change after the surgery
-One might still need reading glasses or thinner regular glasses.

http://www.fda.gov/cdrh/lasik/

That link may help.

I may not know much about it from experience but from knowledge certain eye surgerys (spelling?) can be risky.

My old friend's mom got it. It was expensive, but she had to hydrate her eyes several times a day, if I remember correctly.

I would imagine staying home and relaxing during this period would be best. Unless you are unable to take a leave.

They won't try to "completely" fix your prescription because once you overcorrect something that's it, there's no going back.

One of my good friends from high school had her eyes done. Her dad is an eye surgeon, actually. I went to visit her a few weeks after she had it done and she said it was one of the best decisions she ever made. She wears glasses/contacts not at all now.

Cataract removal can be pretty risky. Often if the surgery doesn't go off without a hitch the eye will swell, stretching the lens and leaving wrinkles or waves in it when the swelling goes down.
