Ahh!!

I woke up this morning and I have a very large, very deep purple bruise on my leg.

I don't know how I got a bruise on my leg! I didn't have a bruise there yesterday, and I didn't do anything yesterday that would GIVE me a bruise...

I drank a little bit on Saturday but not enough to be fall-down-drunk and bruise myself either. I got a little run-on-sentency and that was it. Why am I bruised!?

This seems to happen to me on occasion... the random mystery bruising.... just wake up and go "omg, wow, how did I get that?" I started getting this around the age that I started drinking, only.... I didn't drink much this weekend...

Do you guys ever get random mystery bruising?

Pretty sure it happens to everyone on occasion.

Shouldn't be anything to worry about, unless it starts happening frequently or something.

Hmm... but I never used to get them until I got to about 16/17 and started consuming alcohol. I remember one bout of random mystery bruising where I'd fallen down a flight of stairs.... took me a while to remember that though.

Which is also why I'm confused about the bruising from this weekend as I didn't consume a lot of alcohol.

Maybe your sleep was turbulent? It doesn't take a very hard hit to cause bruising sometimes.

It really doesn't. A few months ago I ended up with a huge bruise on my leg, I had no idea when or how it happened, because something doesn't necessarily even have to hurt at all to cause a bruise: After much though and re-tracing what I've done I'm sure it happened carrying carpet up stairs, using my leg as a sort of rest when my arms were tired, and having a 200-pound man jumping on the carpet in that position to crease it so we could get it around a bend.

Hm... here's the thing though...

Yesterday consisted of me getting up, having a little fun with my boyfriend, and then going to Surf Lifesaving where I did nothing... NOTHING... but sit around on my arse from 1pm to 5pm. Then I came home, did MORE nothing, and went to bed.

My bed isn't up against a wall or anything, it's not close to any furniture to bump my leg against, and it's an odd place to bump against things too... I'd be more likely to hit my knee in bed, not a few inches under it on the outside of the leg.

It's weiiiiird. I hate mystery bruises. I like it much more when I can work out why I'm bruised.

It had to be during your sleep. Maybe your leg dangled off the bed and hit the side or something?

I get mystery bruises sometimes and they have to be a result of sleep or a glancing blow.

Maybe it did actually happen the day before and was slow to bruise or you just didn't notice it at the time.

You had to either have got the bruise that day or banged your leg while sleeping and bruised it.

I rarely get mystery bruises even though I wrestle my brother and have sides on my bed.

Wuh-oh, stigmata guys. My guess is that you hit your leg against the wall or something when you slept.

But I don't think it's in a spot where I could just bump it against something else.

Possibly if something else struck my leg though.

See photo... bruise slightly faded now.

I'm worrying my mystery weekend activities are gonna give my boyfriend Glandular Fever.

After all, the doctor thinks I might have Glandular Fever

You might not have been drunk enough to fall and get the bruise, but something/someone might still have bumped into you and caused the bruise. We're not all that sensitive when drunk, so you might not have thought much about it. Besides, how would you have to fall to get a bruise in that location, anyway?

Either that, or it's something you did in your sleep, like others have stated.

Usually when I get bruises, it's because I have been drunk. But a friend of mine really takes the cake.. She had the worst bruises I have ever seen, on both of her knees. And she had a burn on her arm, too. And she had no idea how she'd gotten either of those.

I woke up New Year's Day with a slightly sore chest (next to my right armpit) and left knee. A couple days later, they started to hurt REALLY bad, to the point where I could barely move, and then kept hurting for the ENTIRE month of January. Even today, I can feel a little soreness if I move just right.

I did get a little drunk the night before, but all we really did was play some board games and sit around talking about dirty, terrible things. I suspect that sleeping in a friend's chair might have been the culprit, but it seemed comfortable at the time...

I also tend to get unexplained--and also lengthy--leg cramps a couple times a month, which tend to make my workdays absolutely miserable.

But I like to know why these things happen.

Course, I did have a blood vessel explode in my leg at one point (in 2005) so I sort of wonder about some things
