I AM A MOSQUITO MAGNET. And I hate it. I always come in with more mosquito bites than anyone else (well, with the possible exception of my dad). They attack my ankles most of all.

I have no such affinity towards bugs, arachnids, or any such critter that you guys seem to have. So I can't speak out of experience.

Don't be a douche =P *that was probably uncalled for* Obviously that's not how that was meant.
Are you afraid of strange infectious diseases? Of course you are. Why? Because they can hurt you even though you can't see them. Same thing with spiders. I'm not afraid of the plane crashing when I fly (and obviously I can't control that,) but that's a big deal and it should certainly be able to kill me. Some little tiny organism shouldn't be able to kill me.

Most people with arachnophobia aren't only afraid of poisonous spiders. I think the real issues that they're so foreign. It's all the legs and eyes. The same way the lack of legs makes people afraid of snakes.

I'm not really afraid of spiders. But I would still be pretty freaked out if I rolled over in the middle of the night an saw a massive tarantula in front of my face, even though I know they're harmless.

There's not much in the UK or northern Europe that compares to insects that live in the more tropical places in the world. Up here it's too cold and wet for 'em. The spiders I see are mostly pathetic and tiny. Even the tree spiders I see from time to time (a large variety where I live) are harmless. I have been attacked by a 1 inch hornet though, that freaked me out.

I feel like I've been so poorly prepared for the rest of the world. I swear when I travel the world I'm going to be a big wuss when I see anything with more than four legs

I've never been stung by a hornet, but I've been popped by a few wasps and bees before, and I once stepped into a yellow jacket nest while push-mowing the yard. I'd have been in big trouble if I'd not been wearing jeans even in the middle of summer.

My worst one was itchy. Then the skin actually looked like a million little bubbles. Filled with air. And there was like a hole in the middle, and pus kept bubbling out. It was really weird.

Does that mean that if you get bitten by a radioactive desk-drawer, you become desk-drawer man? If so, then my name isn't what I think it is.

I have been bitten by so many spiders and by so many different kinds, it ain't funny. I don't even fear spiders anymore. Only ones I'm scared of are the harmless-natured hairy guys, the ones that grow to large proportions and are harmless in nature but fierce-looking in... looks...

I love most arachnids. Mostly tarantulas (brown-haired because the black-haired ones lunge at me) and daddy long-legs. I have gotten so many spider bites that I purposely take longer naps when I am bored to compare bites I have had bites up to about 3 inches in diameter of swelling. Btw to those who believe the "Poisonous Daddy Long-Legs Myth" heres the link to disprove or to just say it hasn't been tested.

Edit: Speaking of bee/wasp related stings my uncle has developed an immunity to the slight toxin of the sting as he has been stung a literally counted 304 times by falling into 3 yellow jacket (or whatever they are) nests when he was lawn mowing himself. Happens at least 1 time every year.

I've never been bitten by any spider. I've had them crawl on me, at which point I jump like 6 feet off the fucking floor and strip down to my underpants. I'm not scared of them if I know where they are, just when they crawl on me I flip out.

Hell, I even have a tarantula, his name is Inspector Zenigata.

ALSO being quoted for truth. It's ANNOYING when that happens. Hell, I have to deal with them inside and outside. Though, i've sometimes been able to swat them away, so I don't have to deal with it too much.

But, on the subject of spiders...Yea. Arachnophobia. I'm usually a little scared of them even from a distance, which makes it a pain in trying to kill them. Hell, one time I tried to kill a spider in the bathroom with toilet paper wrapped over a shoe. ;; I did, but the toilet paper was a little unescesarry. Though, spiders rarely appear...And, i've usually had moths before, but...There've been none since last summer.
