What do you think this game will be like compared to its past?
This is for those who don't have any version of the DKRDS game and by version I mean Language version
I feel it will be perfect especially with the Wi-Fi touches.

68.4%, 13 votes
I feel it will be average because it will probably have some downsizing fact to it in a way.

15.8%, 3 votes
I feel it won\'t be something to write home about

I feel it will be the best game of the DS since Metroid Prime Hunters.

But better games on the DS have come out after MPH

However I think it will kick ass, and I am buying it.

I agree completely with Alastor. (That seems to never happen)

If Mario Kart 64 = Fun and Mario Kart DS = More Fun, then...
Diddy Kong Racing DS should be even more dun than the original.

Diddy Kong Racing is one of my favorite game ever, not to mention one of the games I'm best at.

If they screw this up...

QFFT. This had damn well better be a near-identical port from the N64 version, save for adding features*, fixing the few physics bugs, and maybe toning down the volume on that first place sound. Bonus if they keep the "tap A to go faster" bug/secret/whatever.

*I could care less if they didn't add any new features, but they did say they would.

There seems to be enough fun unlockables included in the game so hopefully it all comes together into a neat little package.

I'll be trying it out soon.

I'm not playing it. It doesn't have Banjo in it. It will suck majorly. And BECAUSE Banjo's not in it, supporting characters from the Banjo franchise will be cut off.

TIPTUP IS PROBABLY GOING TO BE SCRAPPED.

Tiptup's my favorite one too.

Oh whoop-dee-do, a character gets removed. How does that make the game suck?

I've never played DKR in my life, but this does look fun. Doesn't it have a track editor as well?

If so... hehe, next online game for me!

That's a very horrible way of looking at it, you think it is going to suck because a character or two won't be there? =|

I voted the second to last option, only because I havn't had a whole lot of faith in the recent quality of Donkey Kong related games that have been put out. We'll see though, this might very well be a pleasant surprise.

So far I'm enjoying this game. I haven't played it that long, and I'm not informed of all of the extras available (what are the coins about?), but it's nostalgic fun.
I really hate the fact that you have to use the stylus to spin the wheel/propeller if you want a starting boost. It's completely out of place, and it doesn't work very well.

Yeah, the ROM was leaked already.
Pipsy, Tiptup, Diddy Kong, Dixie Kong, Tiny Kong, Timber, Bumper, Krunch, and four mystery characters. I haven't played it long enough to really unlock anything, I only just beat the first area.

I really hate anything involving the touch screen. The boss touch challenge is just dumb, trying to drive with the stylus is not fun at all. The bonus stage they replaced the silver coin challenge with is pretty stupid too. You're flying on a magic carpet around one lap of a course, and you use the stylus to turn, tap balloons, and drag coins into your coin bag. Maybe I'm being a snob because I loved the original so much, but I'd much rather go get the silver coins.

Update: Hmm, the regular coins I mentioned before allows you to buy things. One of these things available
Spoiler:
is the silver coin challenge!

Spoiler (secret characters):GameFAQs claims they're Taj, T.T., Wizpig, and Drumstick. T.T. Has the best overall stats, and they all specialize at one vehicle, save Drumstick who is good all around.

Agreed with DarkSlaya.

Diddy Kong Racing for the N64 is my absolute favorite game of all time, by far. If I don't get this game on release date, I'm going to go insane. I've so far had 4 dreams about this game in total, and It's pretty much the only thing I think about.

Diddy Kong Racing DS to me, is like giving me infinite pleasure on the go. I'm in love with the original, and nothing will ever change that.

In short, I'm buying this on release date, and it's staying in my DS for many months.

I'm not going to miss having to do it that much. I hated some of the Silver Coin levels.

Hm, I wonder how well the game will handle with a control pad. I'm quite used to pulling off accurate power slides with the joystick. :-/

Actually not so bad. Kinda hard to get used to, but in about fifteen minutes everything was as it should be.

Also, some people say that the touch screen functionality is stupid. They are clearly wrong. Obviously you shouldn't use the stylus during the boost; that's very silly and bad. Use your thumb or a finger or something. It's unique and not terrible at all. And the genie thing is fresh and new.

Also, I very much like the extra powerups.

I'm hearing tons of mixed views about this.

What kind of disappoints me, is that supposedly the framerate isn't up to par with Mario Kart DS?

Then I've heard there's a level editor ... but it sucks?

In the end, I haven't picked up a DS game in a long time, and I loved this game to death when it was new on the N64. So I'll probably grab it sometime soon.
