| I'm sure this has happened to many of you. You double-click on an old DOS program, it opens, and it works fine. However, if there is an error and the program has to exit, the window disappears before you get the chance to read the message it gives before exiting.
Question: Is there a way to force the command prompt window to stay open after a program terminates? I'm only asking this out of laziness. I know that you can open the command prompt window beforehand and then run the program to avoid a closing window. I just want to know if there's an easy fix that I don't know about. |

| I don't believe WinNT ever had that feature added, even though Windows 95 had it.
I'm going to just say that you probably should just run commandline apps from a commandline. |

You could always make a batch file:
@%*
and just drag the programs onto it. |

| right-click, properties, program, uncheck 'close on exit'.
This works by creating a shortcut rather than doing anything to the actual program settings, but it's the best Windows has to offer. |
