I am on eye drops now for conjunctivitis in my right eye (caused in part by my tonsilitis... fucken.. weird). I hate eye drops. I really really hate them. I hate anything on/in or near my eye that I am not in direct control of (and even then I'm iffy doing stuff myself).

I flinch if I get my eyebrows waxed. I flinch if I get my eyelashes tinted. I can barely put mascara on myself.

And eye drops? Takes me forever to put eye drops in. Other people doing it? Even worse? I will flinch a LOT (all involuntariliy) and then most people get frustrated with my squirming and it starts some kind of an argument. I've had doctors threaten to sedate me if I keep it up.

Hiryuu reckons I'm nuts cause of this. So I wanna know, (back me up here folks) who else has problems with eye drops?

Obviously, I fucken hate them. You?

I don't have much of a problem with it. It's a bit of a shock to get one because they always feel so cold, but other than that I'm fine with it, though I don't enjoy it.

I'm with Tarale here: I really hate anything coming in contact with my eye, even if I'm the one who's trying to put something in it (one reason why I don't have contact lenses ). I remember being tested for glaucoma last year; having that machine tapping my eye was absolutely awful, and it took a few tries for the doctor to actually get the eye drops in my eye in the first place because I would involuntarily shut my eye when he tried.

I've almost never taken eye drops, but I don't mind them that much. What I do mind is the air puff test my eye doctor gives me. I think it measures the inner pressure of your eyes. I have to put my chin on a little chin rest and stare at a little red light, waiting for a quick burst of air to come shooting at my eye without warning. Not fun.

I never had eye drops.

It's really hard to tell how eye drops are like when you never had them.

I used to take eye drops when I was a kid (I'm not excactly sure what they did, but I'm guessing it's related to how I was far sighted on one eye, and near sighted on the other), never really liked them, no, but I would just sit still and have them dropped anyway, as far as I can remember..

I voted for "YAY!! You fucking weirdo" since I have never had to take eyedrops. my tear ducts are functional and I have no major problems with my eyes. Aside from looking into the sun when I was little causing retinal scarring and needing glasses. XD

The only time I have to take eyedrops is when the optathologist (spelling?) needs to examine my eyes. She says one is to weaken the muscle that shrinks the pupil and to strengthen the muscle that enlarges the pupil since it is weaker than the one that shrinks it. Overall when that is over I look like a freakin alien from somewhere like Pluto becaue you cannot see my eye coloring anymore. Thats why I voted for "I hates em".

I'm with Kamek, eye drops and contact lenses are my enemies, which is why I prefer and have glasses instead. I've gotten pure water in my eye and had it burn like hell, soap of course when I shower, etc. so I just don't enjoy putting stuff in there.

Most of you are wimps.

If you can touch your own eye you can put eye drops in your eye. It isn't hard. I don't have to use them, but it requires the effort of not blinking for ten whole seconds.

No problem with using eye drops here, but I've been desensitized to most things that cause other people to flinch anyway. Bad luck can do that.

I can't stand eye drops. The last time they tried to give me eye drops to test for cataracts at the eye doctor's office, I passed out. After that, they would never dream of trying to give me eye drops.

It's a good thing, too, since I know I don't want to pass out. Shoot, I almost gave my eye doctor a heart attack, or something like that...

Just to clarify, I seem to only be this bad when it comes to my eyes in particular. While I'm not overly fond of needles for example, I am able to "handle" that with a minimum of fuss. I handled a lot of my post op stuff in 2005 much better than I handle eye drops too. And I handled a lot of uncomfortable and nasty stuff leading up to said surgery as well. The real freaking out only happens if someone wants to mess with my eyes.

This said, I am better if I am in a position so that I don't see it coming. This does not work with things like say.. boyfriends.. putting in eyedrops... who wind up just making me more nervous cause they giggle....

The fourth option made me laugh, so I picked that.

I never used eyedrops, actually. I don't imagine I would be able to, either. I'm rather protective of certain areas of my body (neck, eyes, although it depends on the situation ). Also if your boyfriend giggles putting in eyedrops I think you might need to get him checked out or cash him in for a new one or something, they shouldn't do that new, check to see if the warranty has expired, you fucken weirdo.

I haven't let him try putting in the eyedrops. He started giggling beforehand, probably at how freaked I got when he suggested he could help. I suspected that the giggling would continue, particularly as I giggle when I'm nervous, starting a giggle-loop....

And he is new...

I can lick my finger and touch my eyeball and it doesn't really bother me, so I guess I can tolerate eyedrops. I still hate getting them at the eye doctor's though. Especially if they're dilating my pupils.

Speaking of... I have another appointment in March... better remember to find out what day that actually is going to be... hopefully my CSR will be better. I think it is, I seem to be able to see somewhat better out of that eye...

I. Hate. Eyedrops.

I hate ANYTHING that needs to be put in my eye, I don't care what it is. It's for this reason that I will never wear contacts, and I just pray that nothing ever happens to my eyes that require drops. I had to get my eyes examined last year, and I had to have them dilated with drops... ugh. Since I kept half-blinking and flinching, it took about 4 drops per eye until she was satisfied. That sucked.

I just can't tolerate anything being put in my eye, it's one of those things.
