I had way too much fun porting music from Sonic 1 and Michael Jackson's Moonwalker to Gunstar Heroes. I also tried a bunch of Tweaker's and Sonic 65's open music ports. The end result was great. Then I decided to try breaking in my not-yet-released RGB to MD color rounder/converter by making a pallete hack too.

The end result? Super Gunstar Heroes!

Don't trust the screens!
What's cool is how it sounds. Try it yourself. That's the IPS patch. I included two patches so you can play weather you have a .BIN or a .SMD rom.

I love that game. I was about to make fun you for making a title that was the same as the new Gunstar Heroes game that is coming out on the gba. Oh, hell. I'll make fun of you anyway. I'm in a magnamonous mood tonight. Gunstar Super Heroes

Joke's on you -- He picked Super Gunstar Heroes, not Gunstar Super Heroes.

Either way, this is fucking brilliant. First time I played Gunstar Heroes (and won't be the last) and the Sonic tunes instantly made it better. Glad you found my ports and notes useful, hehe.

You might not believe it, Bit-Blade, but making the title close to the new game may have been intentional.

That takes the fun out of it

For the record, Heran, I've always respected your work. You're one of the only very active Genesis and GBA hackers out there, let alone that you specialize in audio. I tip my hat to you, sir.

Oh, wow. That Gunstar-ified version of Panic Puppet (#85) is friggin' AWESOME. :o

It kinda messes up after the first loop, though...

It's not workign :/

I'm using Gunstar Heroes (U) [!].bin, and applying either patch results in a red screen with nothing else.

Thanks very much for the compliments guys. It inspires me to make "Snoic Advance 3 2: Mangrasp Orgy"
KIDDING!

Sorry for taking the fun out of it, Bit-Blade.

And I'm very sorry about the few songs that don't work perfectly, especially Smooth Criminal.

jman2050, are you using the emulator Kega Fusion? The checksum should be correct even after patched. Try turning on auto-fix checksum in your emulator. However I can assure you this hack works on Kega Fusion 3.2 or 2.4. If it still doesn't work, PM me and I'll hook you up with the hacked ROM, since you obviously already have the real ROM.
...might also be a bad IPS patcher. I hate IPS patching and would much rather distribute whole ROMs. Oh well.

Sorry for bumping a two-day-old thread, but I can't get the music to work in either Fusion -OR- Gens. I'm using the BIN patch on a BIN rom, so... what gives? o.O

I was playing the game and I got to the level where it turns into a side-scrolling shooter and the game froze.

It was really awesome up to that point, though. Sonic for the title screen was hilarious.

Your problems are odd. Perhaps you're not using the original ROM, or older versions of Kega. Oh well. I'll send PMs.

Actually, I tried the BIN patch on a BIN ROM and got the same results. SMD worked fine, though. The BIN was directly converted from the SMD before patching.
