| Alright, so yesterday I walked by this girl at my college that looked so familar I was blown away. Then, after my math class I stepped out and noticed she was sitting on the ground talking with friends, and again she looked too familar.
I'm in the belief that she's one of my good friends I grew up with when I was much younger, in 5-7th grade. I know its strange, and maybe you could argue I've dwelled over such things from the past, but oh well. At the moment I was kind of too shocked to say anything, but since then I've been determined to say something to her on Monday when I go back to school. I'm pretty sure she didn't see me at this time. The thing is though, I'm assuming if I don't do this right it could just all come out pretty awkward. I'm just going to flat out go right up to her and say "Hey, are you so and so? Holy crap! Its me, yeah! etc" but after that I wouldn't be sure where to go with it. So, hopefully this topic doesn't suck. I guess I just need some tips on how to re-introduce myself to someone I haven't seen in years, and make a good impression. I've realized you can't really get anything done without taking risks and trying when it comes to these types of things, so I'm pretty determined about this. However, it may not be her. If it isn't, I'll probably be upset for that day or so but I'll get over it quickly. But I don't know, she looked SO familar. |

| If you have a hunch that strong, I'm gonna assume that you at least know her from somewhere. But in order to perhaps make it less "awkward" if you're wrong, I'd suggest going about asking her a different way. I'd suggest... perhaps "hey, you look really familiar, do I know you from somewhere?" and maybe throw out a few suggestions of where you might now her (like past schools or jobs or something like that). If she says no or seems weirded out, just don't push it. There's nothing wrong with someone thinking you look familiar -- at least, I think that would less awkward than if you were to mention her name or something, you know?
If it is her though, you can ask her how she's been since you last saw her, if she's working, what she's studying in college, things like that. Topics that you can both respond to, to keep the conversation going. I hope it's her, finding old friends again is always so exciting  |

| SO, I guess I should inform you guys about the current situation.
Talked to her finally on Friday (didn't have much of a chance on Wednesday). It was inevitable that I'd see her though, since she goes in the same math room I leave after my class. So, she's usually sitting on the bench waiting to go on. I just boldy went up to her and said "Is your name ...?", and she replied "Yeah! What was your name again?" ... "Steven" ... "OH YEAH!" (all caps needed there because she seemed excited, I hope!  )
So, I sat down next to her and we talked for a few minutes. I kind of lost my cool after that, and even choked up once or twice (so embarassing), but she was extremely friendly and brought up some stuff to talk about. She's either very friendly, or was pretty excited to see me. I could tell, it totally seemed like she had recognized me in the hallways a few times too probably, but just didn't say anything. When she went to class she said it was great seeing me again. So, the bad news. Its just a few minutes between classes that we have a chance to talk. So, either tommorow, Wednesday or something, I'm going to try and ask if she has a break sometime, so we could maybe get together to chat, catch up, and stuff. I'd say, I rolled a ~D17 here Koi. No kissing or hugs were invovled, but she seemed very cheerful and happy to see me. I'm sure this won't just be a "Hi, how are you" kind of thing in the hallways. I'd like to make something of this. Anyways, there you go. Lesson learned. If you recognize someone, don't miss out on the opportunity to get to know them again. And remember, I'm extremely shy myself ... so its not impossible. edit: ohlol, yeah. It was her, the girl I was really good friends with back in the day. Guess I rolled a 20 on my sight. | Well, the world surely has a great sense of humor.
She has a boyfriend. Although, I was somewhat disappointed when she mentioned that, at the same time I didn't really care. Now I just wonder, how is their relationship? I guess I'll just focus on a friendship here ... for now. Maybe I'll be more awesome than the other guy. Or maybe I can sit around, do nothing with life for another 6 years and see if I might meet another girl. |
